I agree with bunnymustdie. In a philosophical or theoretical discussion, it may be worth comparing tulpas to alters and other types of headmates. In practice, though, they work differently because their systems work differently. Even the most dysfunctional of tulpamancy systems won't resemble DID, unless they have an underlying dissociative disorder.

 

OP is looking to integrate with/get rid of headmates born from trauma. We can't help with that any more than a DID forum can help someone create a tulpa.

We have both....for us there is a distinct difference and I (as adult host) know which are past alters/hosts and which are Tulpa's (created by or for our 'littles' as inner world companions)

Two have gained full sentience and can co-host and host the body themself if needed. I believe though. (in our case certainly) it's because some of our past alters chose to reintegrate with the Tulpa rather than whoever was (alter) main host at the time. 

We 'switch' alot...for us usually one 'version of self' is out front at once however our Tulpa's can co-host with whoever is at the front.  

eg I (Mila) am part of Nixy's subsystem...we can't both front at once....either Nixy is the one from our subsystem up front or myself or another member is but regardless of which one either KItty or Jess can co-host with us. Sam one of child alters can front at same time as Nixy because they are not one of Nixy's subsystem they are recognised as 'seperate' ..alone Sam comes out usually around 10 years old if blended with Nixy they can age-slide and come out older. 

Kitty tends to stay the same age and in human form she is a human 'walk-in' ...age is irrelevant for Jess really as she's a Kitsune. (shapeshifter who has lived many lifetimes)...in human form she tends to mimic the age of the host for compatibility unless she needs to be older (to go answer the door as the age of the body when a little was out playing) Our other Tulpa are less developed and haven't reached the stage of awareness of an 'outside world' whereas all our alters are and have been a past host at some point in our life.
