I hadn't thought of that being a key component. You are right that at work I do try and passively listen for the alarm, so I suppose that's part of the reason I can hear it elsewhere. I've also noticed that it is difficult to hear it in quiet environments, so your theory about the noise in the shower is also likely true. I will have to try actively forcing myself to really hear the clips I'm listening to. Right now I've gotten to a point where I can recreate them pretty accurately in my mind, but it isn't nearly as vivid as when I hallucinate the alarm. Couguhl August 18, 2013 August 18, 2013 In addition, I would suggest that passively hearing your alarm is quite possibly the consequence of continually listening out for it. If you do this all the time then eventually you will (unconsciously) listen for it elsewhere. Other details include the shower environment being very conducive to hallucination - the water and I suppose the extractor fan if you have one is surrogate to white noise, or even better. And finally alarms are easy to hallucinate. I said that before. I might be wrong about the first bit but the second two I am confident of. So for those reasons I think that what you're doing now won't be particularly successful if you do not actively try to hallucinate. However, hallucination does get easier if you've already done it, and in any case I'll be interested to see what you come up with. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_vibration_syndrome Tulpa: Sierra Forcing since July 2012 Couguhl’s Progress Report
arbiterspartan August 23, 2013 Author August 23, 2013 I haven't been doing the alarm much lately as I'm getting prepped for school, but it seems like a voice is a lot harder to hallucinate this way than a series of tones. In any case I haven't had any success, but perhaps someone who's able to do it far more throughout the day might have more luck.
