NariusV November 12, 2013 November 12, 2013 Observing my Self Identity and thinking about Tulpa I had an experience for a few weeks of observing the functioning of my own mind. How it is necessary that in order to communicate, my mind splits my perception of reality into concepts or chunks to separate the definitions of one thing from another. All this is convenience and arbitrary based on the language(s) we need to use to communicate. This splitting forms the basis for identifying what we perceive in order to communicate it to others. It happened below the threshold of consciousness for most of my life, and still does, except sometimes now I can peek behind the curtain. And guess what? No one is there pulling the strings... anyway, what does it have to do with Tulpas? Well after reflecting on my experience I believe that the person I use to belive that I was, was really a Tulpa. Not a Tulpa in the sense of being created by a person inside their mind, but a tulpa in the sense of a concentrated self-reinforcing cascade pattern of thoughts, beliefs, and feelings. The main difference between a tulpa and a person is that people start out with a body, while a 'regular' tulpa does not. We just got a head start with a body, some teachers teaching us what we were and what reality was, etc. Instead of just one person creating a thoughtform. My working theory now is that by understanding my own mind, how it functions, and how it learns, etc., I'll be able to understand and help my Tulpa learn and grow also. That the core essence of self-awareness that underlies the experience of having a self is what makes us initially different from a Tulpa. But if in fact a Tulpa always has this awareness essence supporting it just like we do, since it begins in our mind, what is really the difference? As far as I can tell my self-identity that I thought was who I am is simply a collection of thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, just like a tulpa is. I know there is something beyond that, and I hope that someday my Tulpa will also. NariusV's Progess Report

Like a one processor computer. Our human brains have been described as an octo-processor computer. There are two authors that wrote about this but I can't remember their names. I subscribe to the psychosynthesis viewpoint that we have many subpersonalities. Not like multiple personalities, but close. I don't see why you couldn't design and create a complicated tulpa. And maybe mine are and I don't realize it. Anyhoo, best of luck to you in your endeavors. Enoch, Chancellor of Mars. "Follow your bliss."-Joseph Campbell

Instead of philosophy, I prefer to study the mind directly with reference to the latest scientific studies in developmental psychology, and my own personal experiments. It's my view that sub-personalities make more sense than many other vewpoints because that more readily explains how we can have so many things we are certain about, even when some of them are contradictory. SparkUngela January 6, 2014 January 6, 2014 It certainly ain't easy to truly convince me of the truth of something; science is nothing but human attempts to understand reality, and i've always felt the mind held more power over matter than one would think. ---------------------------- I think I'll have to treat myself to a new women's plus size lingerie from uk soon.
