Creature21 April 10, 2014 April 10, 2014 Came to the point where I have to tell them they're actually "Tulpas", my Tulpa asked me if I created them (have two tulpas) and I said "yes".. Do you think he will even care, or he will react to it and kind of be emotional and all, knowing as they come from me and all.. Have you ever been through this, what solution?
Linkzelda April 10, 2014 April 10, 2014 There used to be anecdotal cases where members had their tulpa having some kind of existential strife when they declared they were merely thought-forms. Their tulpas seemed to have distanced themselves from further interaction with their hosts, and any other tulpas, to try and think things over. Though these cases seem rare, or hosts have been quiet about it for so long now, I guess. It’s understandable that you would be worried about their reaction to this, though it may be implied that they would know they’re a thought-form either way. Whatever the case, a common justification, at least something I would do if mine ever had some kind of strife is that despite of how their origins may not have been similar to how we were brought into this world, this doesn’t mean it should undermine their ability to act, and to ascribe their own subjective meanings in life. I’ve see it in threads where tulpas acknowledged that even though their memories and upbringings may be false experiential cases to feign that they have free will (at least during the creation stages in validating their sense of self), it didn’t really stop them from doing what they can, not only for themselves, but for their hosts as well. There’s not really a solution honestly that works for all circumstances, since reactions can lead to a myriad of events that would need more ways to assess an underlying problem that gets repressed from awareness. In short, a tulpa may subscribe to some form of existentialism in some way, i.e., even though their origins may be questionable/ineffable, it doesn’t mean they can’t ascribe their own subjective meaning in life. Some may not realize they tend to shift themselves in that paradigm to some extent, and some may not like the philosophy at all, but when finding some life-affirming philosophies, it’s bound to be speculated at some point. Grimjoww April 11, 2014 April 11, 2014 Personally, my tulpa knew what he was from the start. I told him that I was new to this, that he was being created by me and that we'd work together to help him grow and learn. It seems to be going alright. I think a better question is, why would you necessarily withhold that information or keep it secret? Maybe I goofed :P
Nicoman April 12, 2014 April 12, 2014 I would imagine that there wouldn't be a problem as long as one doesn't use the position as God(in the since of you created them) to be an Overlord of sorts. And if you present it as Grimjoww said, to grow and learn together there shouldn't be an issue, or no reason for resentment or withdrawal. I wouldn't worry about it.
