BlackForest May 2, 2015 May 2, 2015 Just the knowledge that your beliefs may be debated, and that new members may be criticized rather harshly should be enough. I think it's a bad idea to cryticize people. I do agree that's a good idea to criticize concepts, ideas, beliefs, but not people. How far is to criticize to, let's say, to judge? English isn't my first language, so, maybe, I'm not fully understanding the way the word criticize is being used. Still, I agree with the scientific point of view you're trying to encourage (damn! that sentence was hard, I don't think I wrote it as I should). But are there not many Fascists in your country? There are many who do not know they are Fascists, but will find it out when the time comes - Hemingway, For Whom The Bells Tolls
Luminesce May 2, 2015 Author May 2, 2015 The sentence was perfectly fine. But you took the criticize statement a bit too literally. I meant that new members, who haven't quite adjusted to the common beliefs in the community, could have their beliefs criticized. A lot of people are more than able to defend their beliefs, but those who don't want to have to do so would be the ones staying out of the board. It would be sort of a free-for-all for arguing about what others think, I guess, where nothing goes unquestioned. I'm still not sure this is really a good idea to be honest, I changed my mind after the thread was made, but if people wanted to try it that's fine too. Hi!
