Two of the first subreddits I ever bothered going to manually lol (the first was the pokemon pal park friend code sharing subreddit)

r/Tulpas isn't bad, though that might be because tulpamancy is so subjective that it's harder for groupthink to take hold. r/LucidDreaming is also okay, aside from the daily "Was this a lucid dream?" and "How do I lucid dream?" posts by newbies who haven't read the sidebar or FAQ (and apparently don't know how to use Google) and how highly praised WBTB is as the method of all methods. Our reddit activity is mainly limited to these topics, and mainly because the forums we know of aren't very active these days.

the problem with learning from reddit is that most people on reddit also learned from reddit. when a reddit community is small, there will be proportionally more genuine experts, but as it grows, more beginners will filter in to try to learn from the genuine experts, and then eventually these reddit experts will become the majority of the community and new people will be trying to learn from people who only learned from reddit, and the expert knowledge will be filtered out and watered down. generally, the knowledge repeated won't be strictly incorrect, but it will overinflated the importance of some aspect of the topic that is relatively niche and ignore all the more complicated stuff, and the community will be factionalized around two or three different takes on an issue that genuine experts don't care much about, meanwhile genuinely contentious aspects of a topic will be considered as more or less solved

Ew, Reddit

If only. I still have a long way to go. Furthermore, we don't use Reddit - we mostly go by youtube channels and old squatting forums. I know there are hobos that post on /x/ and /k/, too.

A noble cause

You must be the dude on reddit that answers all the obscure and hyper-specific questions

Urbex enthusiast here. It's risky but I enjoy it. I wouldn't recommend it because the world has gotten very dangerous in the past thirty years and I would be upset if you got stabbed with a dirty rig, caught by the police, trapped in an abandoned house or worse. Dudes on /k/ usually make threads about the Stalker challenge, which is just camping near abandoned buildings (usually by yourself.) Take stock and weigh the risks, otherwise just go camping and bring friends. If you get anything solar, it is not worth it unless you have lots of sun. Fuel generators have their downsides but are ubiquitous for a reason. Again, I cannot stress fire safety and carbon monoxide safety protocol enough, so do consider units that are charged via 120V outlet and keep it condotioned. I was taught to eschew reliance on electricity, so also research items like earth insulation refrigeration, natural lighting, LED lamps with rechargeable batteries and downsizing your appliances. KISS. Also consider combo compressor/jumper units. When I finally make my kit I'll give you the manifest. Otherwise I know a good contractor that sells kits you can buy online.

Maybe you try urbexing? I'm jk, I've never been urbexing but it is something I want to try Any opinions on solar units? I have one in my amazon cart. It's from a brand called Everlit

They've been around for a while, but most poors just wire up old lead-acid or deep-cycle batteries and use that as a bank. My primary concern is fire safety, so I would have to be rather desperate to indulge the idea. Diesel generators are the go-to, but I would have to crimp a muffler on, get adequate ventilation and a MO sensor. A bit overkill if I just have a phone and use oil lanterns. Consider a car emergency kit. Battery jumpers and air compressors are life-changing.

Wasn't aware going outside naturally taught you about squatter's rights Why don't you tell me about it then, what would happen if you started living in an abandoned factory?
-
He doesn't usually go outside, forgive him.

Squats aren't always permanent. You have to restore the property and pay taxes, which may not be feasible for commercial land. However, real estate can and will go untouched for years - old hospitals, libraries, grocery stores and apartment complexes just sit there until someone buys the plot or leases. The person with the deed could be halfway around the world.

Plenty of fish in the sea. Maybe you subconsciously think you have an excuse to screw up because you're talking with foreigners who have no idea what to expect because of the culture barrier It's good because they actually have a consumer base that expects those features anyway. Lot of people jumping on that bandwagon, so they'd be dumb not to pay attention to that. I didn't think of that, actually. I freaked out last month because my battery died, but it turns out that I had just left the headlights on all night, and now I never take it for granted

cya but with some spaces for visibility for you left-aligned folk

That's pretty cool. 😁 You sure can find all sorts of strange stuff researching a topic. Gonna get going, see you all later! 😊
