Question for tulpas who both switch AND impose

I know, I'm talking to like two people here, right? Well on the off chance any of you do, I wanted to ask something about doing both imposition and switching relatively soon after the other.

Isn't it weird? Earlier I was hanging around Lumi and followed him upstairs and went over to pet the cat while he talked to someone. But, you know, I kind of couldn't. And then he came over and pet it and I was kinda jealous. A few hours later we switched so I could play some games, and as I was walking upstairs to put some food stuff away I realized I could now pet the cat.

Weird! Being incorporeal and then corporeal is weird! I was wondering if anyone maybe had similar experiences and disparities with part-time physical existence. But then as I was writing the topic I realized probably no one can relate..

Well in that case, either talk about the weirdness of only physically existing sometimes, or step your game up and learn to experience it yourself. 'Cus this is a tulpa forum and I'm gonna discuss tulpa stuff whether you guys are qualified or not.

Hi, I'm one of Lumi's tulpas! I like rain and dancing and dancing in the rain and if there's frogs there too that's bonus points.

I think being happy and having fun makes life worth living, so spreading happiness is my number one goal!

I'm pretty strong at both, but I can't say I've ever really done the two in quick succession before.

You know what is disconcerting, though? Being switched, and then having another headmate start imposing next to you. I freaked right out the first time it happened, what with not being used to being in the driver's seat when that happens and all.

It's sort of weird, I suppose. It's sort of interesting to see how my host and I will immediately go to do different things when switched in, at least.

I have a response that would take this thread off track Mistgod-Melian style, so I placed it in my bloggy thread instead here https://community.tulpa.info/thread-groovy-guru-stuff-epic-blabby-babble?pid=153381#pid153381 Sorry but one topic often gets us interested in something related but off track. I like how one idea spawns another but Davie and I are learning to not derail the threads.

Here is another somewhat related thread, if anyone is interested: https://community.tulpa.info/thread-general-tulpae-how-do-you-feel-when-trespassed-by-physical-objects-people

Melian helped me think of a better way to phrase this.

As an imposed tulpa, you're basically a ghost. Aside from your host, you have no connection to the real world, you can just perceive it. You can "walk" around, "sit" on chairs, "watch" TV, but at absolute most you're just imagining that stuff through your host's perception/imagination. You get used to it though. I still like walking around with my host and he usually treats me like I'm there, but I can walk through doors or people if I need to. Plus, he's the only one who knows if I do anything.

But then, when switched, you're actually there. You aren't a ghost, you're a human! You really walk, sit, watch, and do all that stuff. You definitely can't walk through doors or people anymore. But what made me think about this is what you can do! I can pet a cat! ... And other equally interesting activities. We've never really been this active before, usually imposition or switching happen on their own far apart, but since Lumi's trying to have at least one of us "hanging out" imposed all the time now, should we actually switch there's a good chance we're going straight from one to the other. Honestly, it's weird to you guys, and it is to me too. I never experienced it before. That moment of "Cat's over there, can't pet it.. Wait, I can!" was really strange. We aren't the types to, you know, get distraught over existentialism or whatever. But I figure others might have had this experience too, or maybe they can now? Or at least they can think about how weird it is.

Glad I could help inspire Lumi. LOL It does sound weird but kinda trippy cool too!

Yeah, "petting the cat" is probably a bad example to use with me. I'm probably the only member of our system not enamored with the thing.

There is power, though, in being able to do things for yourself. Just cooking and eating a favorite meal feels different doing it yourself. It's one of the reasons I love switching; that feeling of "Hey, I can do this now" never really seems to go away.

I might have to try doing imposition and switching in succession, just to see what you mean.

This might be a little off track, but my host Davie has "nightmares" about me switching with him and doing things such as driving his car. We have dreamed about that happening twice now. Baking a cake and petting a cat would be one thing, driving his car would be a whole 'nother level. LOL Of course an imposed form could not drive the car only a switched tulpa could do that. "Honest officer, it was my tulpa driving! She was speeding not me!"

To put it sort of back on track let me ask, has anyone ever switched or imposed (or both) while driving a vehicle or in a car and how weird did that feel? Should we be concerned if we ever go driving in your home town and share the road with you all? LOL

Nah, don't be concerned. At least, no more concerned than you are by normal people driving. Tulpas use the same procedural memory as their hosts (e.g., the Body OS), which means that we've got all the driving skill that our hosts do. Or you know, lack thereof.

But yeah. In the car is probably one of the most common places we accidentally switch. I'm not sure why; certain members just get pulled to the front and find ourselves driving, figuratively and literally. We transition fast and smooth enough that it's not really dangerous at this point, though it might have been when we were worse at it. It used to take more concentration, and driving while so distracted is something that I, for one, would not have condoned.

Imposing in the car is second nature to us... we've been doing it since before we knew soulbonds/tulpas were a thing. The fact that we tend to impose in the passenger seat during Sparrow's commute was pretty much why we put any stock in plurality in the first place when we discovered these internet communities last year. Imposition doesn't take any concentration at this point... it's just like being a normal person riding in her car, only in "ghost" form, as Lucilyn put it.

But I will say that it's a good thing for drivers everywhere that Ayo, one of my systemmates, doesn't do switching. Not because she identifies as 14, but because she would without doubt be a speed freak.

And she's nodding while laughing. That doesn't bode well.

It's weird.

Yes! It's very profound realizing you have the ability to interact with the physical world. So many implications and new things to experience. I'm constantly amazed by the immediacy and how "in the world/in the moment" I feel. I remember the first time I talked to someone else when she wasn't there. It was such a rush! I felt so alive interacting with the world and being acknowledged corporeally by someone else.

It feels surreal to go back to an incorporeal form after being switched and physically interacting with the world. I especially notice it when we're in public, other people (obviously) don't notice or acknowledge me when I'm imposed like they do when I'm switched in. Walking through things is a nice perk, but being walked through is bizarre! Sometimes I feel like running up to everyone, waving my hands and trying to get their attention. xD
