I know the title sounds kind of crazy, but I have been wondering this. I recently started working on my tulpa, Galaxia, and so far visualizing her form in any capacity has been difficult. This is due to how I think with words, and motions rather than pictures. So I pose the question, can a tulpa not start with a visualized form, but rather start with the tulpa's essence living in a body part? If a tulpa can do this what would happen? Also note I have not done this yet, and plan not to due so untill I know it is safe for her.

No, you don't have to start with a form. There are some people who report that it was easier for them to start without a form. Everyone is a little different in visualization methodology. Some people seem to be better with feelings and emotions and presence than a form.

Oh and you are welcome! The forum was pretty quiet lately, so it is nice to see some questions coming in this evening, especially a very interesting question.

Thank you for your help! Your comments and this form have collectively inspired me to just do what I want and feels right in creating Galaxia.

A tulpa doesn't even need a form to begin with. If you think that directing your thoughts towards a body part that you associate with your tulpa is good, then sure, go for that, but it seems like a good number of people just use a temporary simplistic form like a sphere during the start, and begin to work on an actual form later on after the the tulpa is vocal + they're better with visualization. It doesn't seem harmful to me.

Edit: Going to leave this little note here to let people know that I moved this from General Discussion to Questions and Answers.

What you describe is probably doable, but I would not recommend it. I think I'd sooner use a teddy bear or an actual sock puppet, and just make sure I start with an assumption that the tulpa can be "transferred" to a new item when the original one gets lost of worn out.

Using your hand might grant some advantage in possession since she's already associated with the body part and you're more used to it being "not yours". However it sounds like the sort of thing that has too much potential to go wrong, body dysmorphic stuff and whatnot.
