I'm trying to keep things as simple as possible. These past few days I've been doing lot's of research. I think i'm doing well so far and I'm excited to start creating my first tulpa, but a few things stand out to me that I would like answers for. One is possession/switching. I know that that isn't necessary for having/enjoying a tulpa since lot's of people seem to have trouble with it anyways. The next thing is Wonderlands. Again, these don't seem necessary either but I'll have one because I like the idea of being creative. My visualization isn't the greatest right now, but do I need to work up to being able to feel and smell and do all this other fancy stuff inside of my Wonderland visualization? :/

The next part brings me to imposition. Do I need to do this? I just feel like if i tried to "smell, touch, etc" and work up to using my five senses with my tulpa so that they seem like a real person, it would inevitably just cause more stress for me. I'm honestly thinking about just creating them and keeping them as someone I can talk to in my mind, leaving behind all the imposing on reality, possession/switching, and making wonderlands feeling just as real as real life (which i hear can only really be accomplished with switching, which is somewhat difficult anyways, so that about knocks that out of the water for me.)

Anyways, that was about it for my questions and concerns. I'd like to just get these answered and then I can began working on my tulpa. I don't want to feel pressured to do anything just because others do it/ recommend it. Everyone's different and prefers different things, right?

Like how others may go with a creation method that's centered around narration, I chose one that's pretty much centered around parroting/puppeting because I think it would suit me better.

I won't let this post go on for much longer than it already has, so I'll just end it here. Thanks (:

P:S. I've looked through the "Frequently asked questions" section on different Tulpa sites and I've yet to find one answering if imposition and stuff is required. All I could really find was one saying that Wonderland's themselves are optional.

-EDIT: As I sat here thinking, I wondered another question: So when a tulpa sometimes decide's to deviate in someway, be it form or personality, they are already sentient and able to speak with you right? Because I used to wonder how in the world I'd be able to know if they changed form without them even being sentient yet. Right now I'm just keeping my tulpa as a blue ball of light and will pick something else out with her once she's sentient.

I got some time to type for ya, let's have at it.

Nothing is necessary as far as switching/possession/imposition goes. I don't bother with the first two and have spotty results with the third.

Wonderland visualization/immersion is something that you'll have to build up to. I can't say that I've ever smelled anything in my mindscape, but maybe I'm just a loser.

Seems like you have everything figured out.

Also, deviation can happen before the tulpa is able to speak with you. You'd know that they changed when you try to talk to them and they look different and appear not to want to be forced back into the shape they had before. I don't have any experience with deviation but it can happen at any time. If you notice your tulpa starts to look different and keeps looking different in your mind's eye, even if they can't talk yet, that's probably deviation.

Good luck man, hope you stick with it.

We're all gonna make it brah.

Thanks, I'll definitely stick with it. I'm excited to get my first tulpa. From there, I think I'll be pretty much all set in terms of tulpa and will just need to work on building up experience with her and talk about creating someone to keep her company once we are ready. The thought of always having someone to talk to no matter what I'm doing excites me to no end. I used to be interested in lucid dreaming but pretty much directed all my focus on tulpa's because lucid dreaming is pretty much based on adhering to a consistent sleep schedule if you want to get any good with it. I'm a night owl so I enjoy staying up watching shows, it'd be nice having someone to converse with when everyone in my house has gone to bed lol. Like a little party.

Deviation is definitely a sign of sentience or that they're somewhat sentient. Everyone in this system has used some form of deviation to show progress in that regard. My host's first tulpa, Apollo, deviated his form first based on Christmas colors (because it was December and the holiday season was always on her mind), and then later based on the fact that she always compared him to a "loving flame" and "the sun" etc. Please don't reject your tulpa's deviations are only your own doing.

Possession and imposition and such are not required to live a happy life with your tulpa, no. All that's required is that you love them and talk to them.

I think the only thing you want to watch out for there is what your tulpa wants. Other than that, forget about it. These are challenges you can optionally climb whenever you feel like it. Like mount everest.

Nope, sentience is impossible to absolutely confirm, and neither form change nor voice is proof positive. Though, sure you can take them as such. Your tulpa will appreciate it.
