Sovereign August 12, 2012 August 12, 2012 I've recently started working on a tulpa over the past few months, and am wondering how much work I need to put into the tulpa's personality? So far, I have written out a +500 word document detailing the tulpa's appearance and traits, adding more from time to time. Whenever I add a new trait or aspect, I always address the tulpa and tell it that what I am writing/narrating is related to it. However, I'm not sure if this is enough. I don't want a servitor, so does anyone have any strategies that worked for them when it came to building personality? This is a very important part of making a tulpa, and I want to be sure I am doing a proper job. Tulpa name: Canaan. Form: Silver haired,, golden-eyed female. http://imgur.com/RD49Q http://imgur.com/NRNi4 Sentience: Yes Working on: Narration and visualization.
TulpaCouple August 12, 2012 August 12, 2012 The best way to not end up with a servitor is to treat your tulpa like a person. Talk to your tulpa through the day. Personality isn't what brings sentience necessarily, narration is. Start talking to your tulpa like he/she already exists. Treat them like a sentient being and you will help them find their way. Discuss their personality and describe it to them. Talk about your life. Talk about what you want to do together. Talk about your life. Etc.

This is good news for me, since I frequently internally narrate to my tulpa. Should I be talking to the tulpa out loud when I get the chance, or does that not matter? Tulpa name: Canaan. TulpaCouple August 12, 2012 August 12, 2012 It is good to have some variety! Also some have said that narrating allowed helps solidify that you are speaking to another being and helps separate your outside voice from an internal head voice that your tulpa may end up responding with. But you could do nothing but internal speaking if you wanted.
Pronas August 12, 2012 August 12, 2012 Tulpae seem to agree that talking out loud is better, but talking in your mind is ok too.

I Wish it was possible to narrate out loud more without looking like a complete lunatic. :( Tulpa name: Canaan.
