Tefached August 26, 2012 August 26, 2012 Alright people, let me introduce myself. My name is Marko, I'm 17 years old and I've just recently heard of the whole tulpa idea, and I very much like the sound of it. Like, a companion to talk to all the time, and someone to help you cheat during a test. Hah, I merely jest. Anyway, I need help getting started. I was thinking of creating a pony tulpa (female one at that) and I have no idea how to actually start. And to be brutally honest, I'm a bit scared. I mean, someone who'll most likely follow you to your death bed? Kinda scary. I'm also afraid that the tulpa could turn on me and adopt forms which I find frightening. So, I can has help, please? And be gentle for God's sake, I'm still new here. "Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands." -- Job, chapter 14, verse 15. Huginn is underway. Guest Albatross_ August 26, 2012 August 26, 2012 *Albatross releases a sigh that transcends the dimensions and holds the melancholy of a hundred thousand dying stars* Yes, we know you're still new here. Yes, we know you have no idea how to begin. But we get so many "I'm new, I know I'm new, but I'm still gonna newfriend anyway" threads that it just gets unbearable. But I'll humor you and tell you two things. 1. If you are scared of making a tulpa don't make one. You can get rid of them but if you're worried about that don't start. 2. Read this. http://tulpa.info/forums/Thread-Guide-for-New-Members 3. Then come back to this thread and read all the replies you get from people telling you how to do things, take what they say into consideration, and then make your own decisions. Remember that if you decide to make a tulpa, you're the one making it, not the community.
QB2 August 26, 2012 August 26, 2012 You'll need to be a bit more specific than "help?". Read the guides and then ask any questions you need. But honestly, some of them should be obvious, and I can answer one of them right away - "How should I start?" You pick a random step and go. Note that we have multiple IRC chat rooms where you can just type in a name for yourself, press connect, ask your questions, multiple people answer pretty much instantly, and you can then leave if you so choose. It's much easier than making lots of threads. #tulpa is usually more open to newbie questions than #tulpa.info, but it is also more lenient about going off topic, so they may be talking about things that have nothing to do with tulpas when you enter. Your choice. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
Eggnog August 26, 2012 August 26, 2012 inb4 someone rages about this not being on Q & A OP, I only learned about tulpas yesterday, so we're in the same boat mate. I had my first session today, it was like, I dunno, 45 minutes or something? All I really did was try to hold the image of what I want my tulpa to look like and told his that his name is Stephano, and I want him to look like this, but it is subject to change, as he may not like the name later on or decide being a golden statue isn't cool or something. while I was doing this I was kind of feeling for pressure or alien feelings in my head to see if he was understanding, or at least acknowledge the fact I was trying to communicate with him. I didn't even really get into his personality or anything, I really was just talking to see he was there, even if faintly. I heard listening to Binaural beats help concentrate if you're having trouble visualizing or generally staying focussed on tryin to talk to your tulpa.

Tefached August 27, 2012 Author August 27, 2012 Hi guys, thanks for bareing with me. I understand how infuriating noob questions can be, but I simply wish to get all of my facts straight before I really get into making a tulpa. Yes, I've read guides and FAQs, and I think I'll start making one soon enough. Chupi August 27, 2012 August 27, 2012 Do note that the stuff in the guides (especially FAQ_Man's) about servitors, hour counts and nothing before a certain point being real are garbage. Accepting a bit of parroting, or even a lot, as real will do far less damage than ignoring real responses when they start. Accepting some parroting will NOT make a servitor, and even if it did, servitors can easily become sentient later. On the other hand, doing nothing but parroting may make a tulpa, like kids do with imaginary friends, some of which do become tulpae. However, it might take a long time, and I suspect that some amount of pre-existing dissociation is required for this to produce anything other than a mind doll. And I was going to try this with a second tulpa to see if it would be faster/easier/slower/harder, etc. For science!
Chupi August 29, 2012 August 29, 2012 And I was going to try this with a second tulpa to see if it would be faster/easier/slower/harder, etc. For science! I *WAS* going to test exactly that, but with my first tulpa doing most of the work. I gave Lyra a generic Eevee form to work with, without any detailed visualization done. I explained the premise of the thing to her -- play with, puppet and talk to this for long periods and it may eventually become sentient. She replied "already is", and the next day we started noticing thoughts from him. A few weeks later and he's catching up to where she is after over 4 months. So inconclusive on puppeting because Lyra took a different path with Eevee, but a tulpa can help quite a bit in making another, seconds are much easier, and really believing they're already sentient seems key.
