Hello friends, yet another post from me. Along with me and applejack. With these dreams i have been obtaining and such, it just makes me feel as if the world around me is not existent or whatever.

I am unsure of what is happening but i still love applejack.

Any viable explanations? I do despise therapists and psychologists myself.

Ah, so you prefer us, unqualified armchair therapists and psychologists!

The main problem with therapists is that you really get kind of stuck with just the first one you get, who by all means may not click with you at all. I assure you there are wonderful therapists out there that are nothing like each other, though! If you ARE brave enough to try and see multiple to find one that really clicks or is helpful.

Anyways, the symptom you're expressing is called derealization I believe. If it's specifically come up after vibrant/immersive dreams, then you could do with trying to appreciate the waking world around you, as it is where all the bits that make up your dreams come from.. but is also woefully overlooked by the average person as they get older. The world is a beautiful and amazing place, but people tend to "get used to it" and stop really paying attention to their surroundings as they get older. If you've not got some deeper underlying disorder, perhaps some mindfulness/awareness exercises could help. Simply take some moments here and there to really pay attention to the world around you, pay attention to your senses (in appropriate places maybe see how things feel), consider how your immediate environment extends to places beyond your sight and eventually connects to the rest of your neighborhood/town/city/the world. But mostly, just be conscious in the moment! Realize everything around you is in fact real. Go outside, if you've been spending too much time indoors, and if you've got the means, perhaps go on a walk or bike ride or drive etc. and simply pay attention to everything around you.

Honestly, when a normal person with no symptoms does this, it can actually make the world feel less real in a weird way, at least temporarily! For people who have been ignoring their senses and living in the mental boxes they've converted the world around them into, it can be surreal to simply take some time to give credit to just how much depth and detail they've been ignoring. But this should be a grounding experience that helps you appreciate how real the world around you is.

If it's not, and you continue experiencing symptoms like derealization or dissociation, it's definitely time to see a therapist or(and they may direct you to) a psychiatrist. Some things can be fixed on your own, or with the advice of random forum-goers on the internet, and other things will require more professional help.
