Are there any scientific evidence that proves or disproves that headmates (whether they're tulpas, DID alters and SBs) are real?

In short, no.

 

There's not sufficient enough evidence to prove or disprove tulpas, alters, etc. The closest thing to "proving" plurality is this study in 2014 that concluded alters from 15 female systems are distinguishable from actors pretending to have alters. The problem is there are not any other studies like it (to my knowledge) and the sample size is too small.

 

There is limited research on DID/OSDD and even less on tulpamancy. The paper "Daring to Hear Voices" was written by Dr. Veissière in 2016 studying tulpamancers on Reddit and right now there's an ongoing study at Stanford University. However, there is a lot of skepticism about whether or not the study will prove tulpas are real, and even if it did it would be the first of its kind to do so.

 

I haven't heard of any scientific research being done on soulbonds.

Well someone who is wondering if they have a headmate or not, look at pluarality posts and forums and watch videos to help them prove or disprove if they have headmates? Because that is exactly what I've been doing for a while.

That's a completely different question, because asking if you have headmates or not isn't the same exact question as if plural headmates are real in general.

 

We don't have science to back up our experiences, just what we have observed and what patterns we observe in other people's experiences. We believe we have a basic feel for how a normal tulpa behaves because a lot of people's experiences seem to line up. Therefore, "Do I have a tulpa" is really asking "Do you (tulpamancers/tulpas) think I have a tulpa based on your knowledge of tulpamancy?" in the context of posting here on the forums.

 

While it would be cool to verify tulpamancy with science, we can't yet, and it's debatable if we ever will.
