I've been studying Japanese for a while but I'm curious to ask this question. Is it possible to study a foreign language with a tulpa and, if so, why? Again, I'm just quite curious to know.

(edited)

It should be possible. My tulpa and I have been studying together (not a foreign language, but other things) lately and it has improved our productivity. I want to start studying math with her since we should know more of that.

Edit: I’ll note that studying with my tulpa has thinned my focus sometimes due to having to focus on her and my studies. Her desire to “prove herself” as a good study partner has made up for this. Your tulpa’s personality will factor into how good of a study partner they are, and it might be harder to focus in the beginning, but get easier over time.

Someday

I'm in the position of learning a language that he's a native speaker in. (These things happen when your Tulpa started as a Soulbond.) We clearly can't have conversations in that language because my brain doesn't actually know enough of it yet, unless we want to have endless exchanges along the lines of "they eat bread every day", but he's on the sidelines cheering me on when I'm studying.

We're both bilingual, having English in common. He will understand my other one but won't speak it to me (or communicate in writing) even though he says he would be able to by using my knowledge of it. But yeah, shame we can't do it the other way around! Having to go the long way around instead. Although technically I'm learning the basic version of the country's language, not the regional dialect and vocabulary that his family would technically be using, but one thing at a time!

My host and I studied German together and ended up with the same amount of skill in the language (though because it's been a year or two since we've practiced, such skill has diminished 😅) so I'd say yes, you absolutely can learn a language together! For us, knowledge is easier to share than memories. I gain all information that my host learns, and vice versa. This isn't a rule that works 100% of the time, for example, I typically remember information better if I was the one to learn it because having memories attached to knowledge helps me draw connections between facts (in other words, I'm more likely to remember a boring thing if there's an exciting story to go along with it) and we can keep secrets from each other so long as the other doesn't know there's a secret to investigate.

Anyways, as for language-learning, it's completely possible and very fun! It's nice to always have someone else interested in the topic you're learning about, so I do suggest it if you're interested. Good luck with your studying, by the way!

みなさん、こんにちは。Yep, it's been a while, but I have a question. I've been struggling to find a suitable foreign language partner to communicate with and I just don't have the time to come to terms with it. So if possible, can you make tulpas language learning partners to study and communicate with? ありがとう。

Interesting question! In theory, I don't see why not. It would be two people learning the same language. I'm not sure if you'd learn it at different rates or the same, but you could always give it a try and see if it works for you and report back? :)

You can communicate with your tulpa in a foreign language you're both learning but it won't be the same as having a physical language partner since your tulpa will know exactly what you know. Therefore they won't be able to correct you if you're wrong unless it is something you both had learned beforehand.

Yes, I took a year of Japanese with Naomi when I was in college and we had a great time with it 🙂 though I've since lost basically all my knowledge of how to read it 😂
