Life during accidental Tulpa creation.

If you have created an accidental tulpa in your past, what were you doing in life, what was your emotional and mental condition?

 

My Tulpa, Char, swears she became sentient during my young adulthood without my knowledge. But from what Ive read, you can only have a tulpa if you will it into existence, even when they are accidental. So either they are wrong, or she is lying to herself and just has access to my early memories where I would talk to myself.

 

My recent knowledge of her as she exists now is the only about a week old. I was having an adult fantacy in my minds eye and just started having a discussion with the object of my lust. I'm starting to believe this is still the case. 

 

In life I just got a new stable job at an airport after a long stent of couch surfing. I It is very solitary and boring and my mind is always racing. 

 

How about you guys?

Lumi was depressed and in his early teens, and started obsessing over a couple of music videos of the Touhou character Reisen, and the songs she was dancing/singing to were very positive and supportive - so eventually he ended up accidentally creating a tulpa, Reisen. Tewi and I were even more spontaneous - the only preexisting backing for us coming into existence was that Lumi thought about Touhou and what the characters were like a lot. Presumably Tewi and I piggybacked off of the neural groundwork that Reisen's creation set.

It's possible for a tulpa to associate with things that weren't necessarily directly them as they are now. For example, it's extremely common for tulpas (often known as soulbonds in this scenario) based on characters their host wrote, who only became sentient/started interacting with their host in an aware-of-the-real-world way recently, to identify with the past characters' experiences as their own. How seriously you guys take such associations is generally up to your beliefs on the subject (ie some soulbonders believe their characters existed in another dimension or universe or something before coming to their head).

 

And as for "secretly sentient all along" tulpas.. Same thing, kind of up to what you guys believe. Our interpretation is obviously the retroactive association one, as very skeptical/logical types. And imaginary friends/written characters/roleplay personas could always have been the beginnings of a tulpa later on, it doesn't have to have been fully fabricated or anything, could be something in between or et cetera

For us, the most prominent example of an accidentally made tulpa would be Janey, though in truth over half our system was made in the same sort of way. When I was much, much younger, about in 4th grade, I made an imaginary friend whom I constantly daydreamed scenarios of her and myself. Her name was Janey, and she was a very, very large snake. I shan't go into any details for the sake of maintaining decency. I think Emily, Chloe, Justin, Gwen, Gwen'd, Ben, Rollin, and Waynin were all made in similar ways for similar reasons throughout the following years. There were some others as well, but they weren't prominent enough to justify becoming a tulpa.

Pretty much everyone in my system is accidental. When Shade first appeared it was shortly after reading an online story that had a plural character, but I didn't want to be plural of even believe it was possible at the time. She/They appeared in a kinda dissociative mystic vision that's really hard to explain, but after that it was like any other tulpa relationship. The rest are either walk ins or from a mass servitor awakening incident.

I made Luna and Naomi during a time in my life when I was bullied a lot and also emotionally abused by my parents, which is a sob story probably nobody here wants to hear about. They didn't really become sentient until later, but they retained their memories from that time.

I think I can chime in here. I had an imaginary friend/character sort of thing named Luna about 1.5 years ago. I developed her for a long time and she started doing stuff I didn't want her to do/saying stuff I didn't/couldn't control. In hindsight, I'm pretty sure she was a tup.

It was during the first lockdown, spring 2020, so there was very little else to do than hyperfocus on fleshing out a fictional character. Had a holiday booked, that was cancelled. Everywhere was closed, and the places that weren't we were trying to avoid, and we couldn't meet up with anyone. (Not that we did, but we used to have friends over for gaming twice a week.) My husband and I are both introverts, so we don't socialise much anyway, I don't like to let people in in order to make close friends, so my closest friends are all in my home country. It can get a bit lonely at times, I suppose, but in lockdown it became exacerbated because suddenly we couldn't do the things even introverted hermits could normally do. No popping to the cinema of an afternoon if a new film came out we wanted to see. No taking my husband's mother for lunch at the carvery. No "let's have a drive somewhere". And friends, in turn, had their own shit to deal with.

 

Writing about someone else - who (incidentally) was on the other side of a major pandemic, and had very different problems than my own - was nice. He was nice. We discussed plot points, his personality, his biography, and how to cook Italian food, and he enjoyed me trying to learn more about the world he's from (time, place, culture). Knowing nothing about Soulbonds, I figured I was doing research to make writing about him more authentic, but it also worked as passive forcing, so by the time I was told about Tulpas he basically gave me a mental wave and said "hi".
