G+3 December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 No, in fact, I'm very optimistic about the future of understanding - through research. I think the more attention we can give to Tulpae, the more chances they'll have for actual scientific backing. Without people showing their faces, and emphasizing the positivity of Tulpae communication, this phenomenon will remain unimportant to society, and misunderstood. I've always been of the impression that the tulpæ community is happy being in its own little niche; think of Token's hobbits, ''Happy to to ignore, and be ignored, by the tall folk'' I think is how the quote went. waffles December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 It's not. Setting aside the asspain I have with "tulpae", replacing 'ae' with the ash is medieval practice. Latin written in Roman times had no ash, and modern practice also does not use the ash in 'ae' when using Latin. In fact, the ash itself is archaic and falling into disuse; see 'mediæval', which is how 'medieval' used to be spelt.

Guest Tulpamancer December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 I don't really like the sound of this. You are going to get trolled, epicly, but that's only the start of it: I don't think it's right to be putting out something like tulpæ so extrovertedly like that, it's a deeply personal thing between you and your tulpa. It's the same with incredibly extroverted, let's say, bronies: it's just not something you do, it's really annoying and every one tuts a little when you say anything. I don't think it will be fair on your tulpa either, what if they want to back out? But that's just me and my ''introverted-versus-extroverted personals-&-fandoms complex'', please keep your personal things on the inside. If you do go through with it please be courteous of other tulpamancers & tulpæ and ask their permission before talking about them, if they're plans to do such thing on the channel. I'll subscribe and see what's it about, I've just got this really sour feeling about this. Interesting - I actually consider myself an introvert - I'm not really sure what you're afraid of. The only image that will be affected ... is mine. You speak of Tulpae as though they're a secret, that must remain hidden. I have every intention of being completely respectful - for the privacy of individuals, I'm well aware of the controversy surrounding this.

Guest Tulpamancer December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 In that case, if you're looking for scientific credibility then a Youtube channel will do nothing useful. In fact, this will probably do plenty to discredit what little anyone here has. Whatever problems you have with YouTube, as a means for publication, I can't help. Plenty of scientific discovery/research is made public through social media, and it helps people understand it better. Clearly, there's room for plenty of negative feedback - but people used to think the world was flat - not that long ago, in fact. So, I say there's more good than bad that can come from exposure - mainly neurological research - could prove beneficial in understanding Tulpae communication.
waffles December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 If you're going to do research then write a paper. Or lots of papers. If you're not, then don't write any papers. Either way, publication through Youtube is a bad idea.
Scott Z December 16, 2012 December 16, 2012 As an outsider, I have a different take on the concept of a Tulpa Youtube channel. My initial reaction is that it can be a very useful tool for showcasing if the tone is kept less serious and less self-important. For example, such a channel could be used to showcase poetry composed by tulpas. Moving slightly up the scale of self-importance, a short panel-style discussion about tulap issues would be nice. The usefully of the Youtube channel as discussed already in this thread would be a good topic for starting. Please keep the option for commenting turned off as that should prevent the vast majority of negative backlash. my thoughtform = Isis her appearance = stylized rabbit with dark fur and glowing eyes her developmental stage = imaginary friend
