Sing February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 So I've been at Tulpa "creation" for over three months now. I at times can't shake the feeling that responses and communication is at times a calculated response. What do I mean by calculated response? Well if you run a conversation in your head; you can calculate to an extent what the other side of the conversation will be. Depending on the speed you can calculate the other side while speaking and have the calculation not run at the "front" (as in main thought), this could lead to some issues regarding sentience (I think?). Is there any way to alleviate this issue or to further work on "sentience"? I put sentience in quotes as I realize the "Regard all things as sentience/ect" rule.
GuessWho February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 Well, it looks like I don't need to tell you about the "Regard all things as sentience/ect" rule. I'm experiencing this a bit, so I'll try give you an answer. I think that if it does run ahead of the main thought, it's likely to be the tulpa. Tulpas do live inside your head, so their responses may not necessarily feel as foreign as some of the guides make them out to. You did essentially think of it, you're just trying to isolate the part of your brain that did to function on its own, separate from the rest, in the form of a tulpa. Also note the possibility that your tulpa is purposely answering early in an attempt to prove their sentience/individuality to you. Try relax and give no attention to the idea of a pre-calculated response. Thinking about the idea of pre-calculated responses may prompt you to unconsciously cut your tulpa off and calculate their responses for them where it isn't necessary. Even if I don't support it, given that some people do still succeed with parroting in the beginning stages, what does it matter anyway. Surely your tulpa will just take on a personality adequate for your pre-calculated response and take over at some point. Also, here's an interesting idea that I have no idea if it will work since I'm only starting with it today: http://tulpa.info/forums/Thread-Imposition-and-Phantom-Tail-Syndrome?pid=57751#pid57751 You can try it too if you want, but no guarantees - it's still untested.
QB2 February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 No need to distinguish between the two, if you ask me. Tulpa sentience could even be considered an advanced form of calculated response - you keep living with them until your brain can subconsciously calculate every single response without breaking a sweat. Same way your brain calculates your own responses when you want to act a certain way when you're talking to people. Presumably. I'm no psychologist. I'm just saying what sounds logical. But the point stands that you should probably just treat it as normal and wait for the feeling that it's happening to go away. The above post does not contain facts. q2's the host, QB's the tulpa.
waffles February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 I should start by saying that's pretty normal. I can't say everyone, but likely most people will have gone through that stage, or will. As Q2 said, it's more or less another step on the road. Start off with your tulpa not talking, now sort of talking, not predictably talking, now unpredictably talking. In terms of improving, you should try your best to ignore it. Forget about it, and don't make a big deal out of it if you realise it again. Then, talk to your tulpa. Make a lot of conversation - which I'm sure you're doing already - but do it more. Also, try some auditory imposition. Hallucination tends to make these things easier. Other than that, it'll likely improve over time anyway.
White Coyote February 18, 2013 February 18, 2013 It's exactly how I feel at the moment. At times it feels like that but at times, it's completely unpredictable.
Sing February 18, 2013 Author February 18, 2013 Thanks for the responses guys. I recall a conversation with someone here regarding a method someone used on improving the separation between Tulpa and Creator's thought-streams. Anyone familiar with such exercises or methods?
Sing February 18, 2013 Author February 18, 2013 Are you referring to this? Not quite. Me and my tulpa aren't quite that separated in thought it seems. If one of us doesn't know something; the information is essentially pulled from each other's information base if it is found there; causing issues with an exercise like that. I was referring to something to help build the wall between thoughts and so on.
