Lima Golf October 4, 2013 October 4, 2013 A friend of mine introduced me to the idea of tulpas a few months ago. I have put some thought and research into it, and just need some questions answered before I begin. First, my friend claimed it was possible for your tulpa to see through your eyes and help remember/notice stuff you otherwise would not. Is this correct? During my limited research into tulpas, I cannot verify this or just fail to understand this aspect. This is actually a fairly important piece in my motivation to make a tulpa as I was hoping the tulpa would be able to help increase my observational abilities, as well as assist me in boxing/cagefighting/bjj as the tulpa would supply me with a different perspective. Additionally, I suffer from depression, a negative self-image, and sometimes violent intrusive thoughts. These things on their own I am perfectly able to cope with, however I am concerned these things may negatively affect the tulpa and possibly cause problems. Is this a valid concern, or will the tulpa be unaffected by these? Lastly, I repeatedly find recommendations to let the tulpa form itself for the most part. I was wondering is it possible to allow it to structure itself, however give it "varying intensities" of suggestions depending on how vital the aspect is to how my ideal tulpa would be? For example it's practically necessary for my tulpa to be human, male, athletic, motivating. Where as many other aspects such as age, facial features, and personality, I have an idea of what I'd prefer, however I'm perfectly fine with the tulpa changing these to it's preference.

This is actually a fairly important piece in my motivation to make a tulpa as I was hoping the tulpa would be able to help increase my observational abilities, as well as assist me in boxing/cagefighting/bjj as the tulpa would supply me with a different perspective. For vision, they would presumably be limited to what you can see. For other senses, they may be able to make deductions on what may be occurring in the environment. There have been some anecdotes of hosts declaring their tulpa was able to tell what was going on beyond the host's field of vision. As for memory, yes, that's probable, but you can also improve overall cognition without a tulpa. Some may suggest that you find ways to calm yourself and have a peace of mind before tulpaforcing to reduce the probability of sporadic events to occur. Being concerned over your issue can lead to negative wishful thinking, so a viable way to reduce this is to shift your awareness to positive thoughts. It sounds simple, but it can make the difference. Lastly, I repeatedly find recommendations to let the tulpa form itself for the most part. In the initial stages, try seeing it as a transient stage, and keep in the back of your mind that the tulpa can deviate. You can use a temporary form (face or face+body) as a means of non-linguistic communication ("yes" for head nods and shaking horizontally for "no"). This can be useful if you find yourself having difficulty with developing mind-voice interaction and auditory imposition for a vocal tulpa. The pragmatic way is to find some form of communication and simply ask questions to the tulpa and just be honest and accepting of them. Lima Golf October 5, 2013 Author October 5, 2013 First, I would like to thank you, Linkzelda, for taking the time to help me with these concerns. While I now sufficiently understand the solutions to my last two concerns, I feel I did not articulate my first question well enough. I do not expect a tulpa to be able to see something that is not in the host's field of vision. My friend explained that the tulpa would be able to see through the host's eyes and offer a different perspective; different in the sense that no two people perceive something in the same way. Additionally, with the parallel processing capability that can come with having a tulpa, if the host is focused on something, the tulpa can still look at the "bigger picture" or vice versa, thus allowing for a dramatically increased capability in observational awareness.

It's probable for the tulpa to be able to give a different perspective over the same perception the host is seeing, and this can be correlated to the term metacognition (aka 'cognition of cognition' or 'knowing of knowing'). This may be one of the main reasons why people want to create a tulpa because: 1. If the host is aware of their own cognition 2. If the tulpa is aware of their own cognition combined with their host's and vice versa for the host (metacognitionception)~~~ 3. If there's an overall increase in mental capacity to compensate for parallel processing and such Then in theory, you and your tulpa can become highly vicarious beings, and this can be useful for all sorts of things (e.g. social interaction, building empathy, memorization, knowing which strategies are efficient for problem-solving, and the observational awareness you're interested in). Shui October 5, 2013 October 5, 2013 I've read a number of accounts where the tulpa was aware of something that the host was not. Like the tulpa had heard a car outside and knew someone was arriving, while the host had heard the same car without being aware of it. "'Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you.'"
