Any advice at all is very welcome, and I would like to thank you for any time and patience that you have spent here.

I wouldn't worry overly about the NPC you met. The main difference between an NPC and a servitor is that an NPC just freezes into stasis when you aren't around, whereas an advanced enough servitor has the potential to do things for you without you actively paying it any attention (once commanded to a task that is).

I avoid Kevin's wonderland. Very detailed but a lot dangerous - somewhere you might want to tell a tale of, but not a place you would want to visit. We did a few experiments last year to see what happens to NPC's when you aren't there. We would try various combinations of me and Kevin 'porting in and out of the wonderland, taking turns observing. I was more then a little weirded out actually - whenever Kevin is there the whole place lives as though it were an actual land. I tried talking with one of the NPC's (a guard) and he responded just like a person (so well, it was like talking with a human). I was more then a little frightened by this actually. And when Kevin left, everything (except me) just froze - like some sort of time-lock (it was as though time in the wonderland had stopped). Intrigued, Kevin asked me to try and make it move. With concentration, I was able to get the world moving again, like time restarted flowing, but the NPC were still like frozen statues - without Kevin's presence they have no existence beyond a static form.

So, basically, an NPC is just something that is animated by your [active] imagination. Pay it no mind and it ceases to act. NPC have only an instantaneous awareness - you create them from second to second.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I really appreciate it.

Like LinkZelda said, I suppose I am more worried about feeling it necessary to care for this NPC as I do tulpae, and as long as I don't, I wont really have any problems (supposedly).

Ill just try to keep in mind not to think of this NPC as anything but an NPC, and see how that turns out.
