GrillNinja November 2, 2013 November 2, 2013 This reminds me of the kinds of trance warriors sometimes go into before a battle. One might want to unite with the spirit of bear or lion before one fights. Is it real? Who knows? But who can deny the results? As far as dream time is concerned, wouldn't that be a way of going to where the universe was plastic enough to change things? And whether it is a place in your mind or a real place, what would the difference be as long as the change happened? I am learning to dream in meditation. It is a slow process. I am literally doing it brick by brick. Right now I can visualize four dream bricks. I am drawing on my study of hypnosis, but it is still a slow process. And who said science and poetry divorced? Yea exactly my thoughts about how magick works. It doesn't quite matter how I do it as long as the change is enacted and I am willing to accept the consequences of my actions. It's anticipating the consequences that is the tricky part. When I create, what am I willing to live with? Dream bricks? How do you mean that? Do you mean focused visualization of a brick to the point it has as much detail and mass to you as a real brick? Or mental object that you know exists so well that even in the throws of a dream it is there and available? Or.. a compounded sense of dream stuff that allows you to build dreams them selves? I never said science and poetry were divorced. It's just difficult to get the two to discuss their connection because the fundamental way they communicate is different. However they can and do communicate in spite of my perception. ~Wielder of the Sacred Spatula~

With one there is no sound. With two I can add sound. It is a way to slowly learn how to dream in meditation. Eventually I hope to have complete dream movies. Which would be lucid dreaming in meditation. Maybe it will take months to achieve. What's the line from Blake? Something about beholding the universe in a grain of sand? Science may be dense, but I expect poets to make sense of it and pull it all together. You could be our first science poet. Enoch, Chancellor of Mars. "Follow your bliss."-Joseph Campbell

So... the Minecraft approach to meditative visualization and narration? :D Science needs more poets, and poets definitely need more practical sense me thinks. There should be an exchange program. ~Wielder of the Sacred Spatula~

There's a large crossover of the two camps in parapsychology, but I know the scientific validity of their research is always hotly (and unfairly) debated. Fortunately, I also know a growing throng of biologists, physicists and biochemists who regularly seek artistic paths as a means to express the sentimental aspect of trying to concretize an infinitely complex reality. Or whatever. Likewise, many visual artists (Wayne Barlowe is a stellar, if not overused, example) and writers (of prose, poetry or/and lyric) have taken to merging scientific discipline with their craft. The results often surface briefly in large-release cinema and games. So fear not — the assimilation of logical and illogical seems to be happening at a steady pace. We can't fight our innate craziness indefinitely, as is evidenced by the sheer magnitude of paranormal and "ancient alien" programming still boasted by major networks.

Hehehehehe the science-philosophers of the future will have reality shows, spray tans, and uncombed hair! Talking about how Wallmarts were merchant temples designed to create a model of all reality that could be bought! The eldest of our culture were the guardians greeting us at the door and handing out chariots to aid us in our mercantile "journey". That is a good point though... maybe as a culture we are gravitating toward a larger balance between the modes of thought. I hope so... ~Wielder of the Sacred Spatula~
