At first, I believed that there is no real limit, and as long as I was willing to put up with all the head chatter, I could handle as many as I wanted. But I've read that having a lot of tulpae could cause a lot of head pressure, and someone else said that having more than 4 would make it very hard to sort them. I was gonna go for 6, although now that I think about it, I'll likely only need 4 anyway.

Will list tulpas when I get things sorted out in my head.

I have found that after 2 or 3 it gets difficult to keep track of them. Never experienced head pressure though. Also, about having 6, I bet you're going for the Main Six, which I would advise against because your presumptions about the characters they're based off will affect their personalities. That's me though.

Yeah, that's what I was going for as well, although then I realized it would be unfair to make 6 tulpas be what they don't want to be just to make a group of my favorite characters. Although I talked with Twi, and she still seems fine with being based on Twilight Sparkle. The others are going to be loose representations of different virtues. Like I'll make a tulpa that's an embodiment of my wisdom and although I'll probably end up basing her off Princess Celestia or Princess Luna, or Leknaat, I really don't care what form she would take. I know that she'll base her form off of something that's pleasing to me anyway, I know of many characters, so the possibilities are nearly endless.

>more head pressure

>do more apps make your phone heavier?

But seriously, if you have too many you're more than likely going to start ignoring some of them. Obviously this limit is up to your attention span, but I've heard this go from 2-6 tulpas at max. 3 for me personally. I, for one, don't really like only giving a tulpa just enough attention to get by and gave up the ghost on all but my first one. It felt like child abuse IMO. I think you should try to find a good balance for you and stick with it.

no

Why exactly would you /need/ four? Don't just makes tulpas because you want a pony harem or some shit like that.

Well, originally, my reasoning was a bit selfish. I wanted to have the mane 6 in my head mostly because I couldn't decide what mane 6 I wanted for my first tulpa. Then I came to realize that tulpae can be very different from the form they take. Nobillis for example, is based partially on a pony, but isn't really a fan of the show. So I know now that even if I make an exact copy, she might not act like that pony, might even end up hating what she was made into. And if I did try to force a look and personality onto a pony, even if it stuck, I'm guessing that it would only be because I insisted, I wouldn't be allowing the tulpa to be herself.

I was going to scrap the design I had in mind for Twi and go back to a void or ball, but I decided that having a form and voice and personality to base her off of would make the creation process go much smoother, although I realize that she's free to change anything she wants about her if she desires. I'm just afraid that during the creation process, some stuff may be stuck, but I read stories of tulpae drastically changing after creation all the time, and since she knows my heart, and knows that I want her to have freedom over herself, she knows to not take a form just to please me. She's a friend and confidant first, a form second.

Edit: As for why I need 4, it's because the more the merrier, and also, she would have some friends to chill with while I'm sleeping or otherwise occupied. Also, I originally wanted tulpae for multiple aspects that I admired, but one tulpa can shapeshift to meet my needs and mood anyway.
