Ashmo June 24, 2015 June 24, 2015 I agree, and I didn't mean to blur the lines. I think the main difference is control. We are aware of our tulpa, most of us sought out to bring them into our mind's form of reality, therefore it gives us more control over early tulpa development. Over time, the tulpa gains more and more control over themselves until they become a whole consciousness. In DID alters, they are normally made after some sort of trauma happens to their Host and they are forced to take over. It's the subconscious taking control to protect the body. The Host has no control in the matter (or very little), but just like in the case of making a tulpa, a separate and whole consciousness emerges. I think they are quite possibly two sides of the same coin. Which would be a plausible explanation to our friend, the OP, as to how tulpa are quite possible and very real.
