slydshot June 22, 2015 June 22, 2015 I just want to thank you for this website. I used to think I was nuts, but seeing other people with the same ideas has made me think different. Although I do not have a tulpa, I have what is considered a soul bond, this site has helped a lot. I was wondering though, if a soul bond could become a tulpa. I have considered creating a tulpa, but wish my character to remain himself. Any thoughts are welcome.:) Slydshot
Nyx June 22, 2015 June 22, 2015 I don't see why not. Soulbonding already places you in the mindset for forcing, so you may have a good head-start. The old guides caution against basing a tulpa on a fictional character/real person, but I think an identity crisis can easily be avoided if the host makes it very clear that he/she does not expect the tulpa to be the "original." Just keep in mind that deviation may occur. This is based on the assumption that you have an outsourced bond. If it is insourced, then you'll just be taking your own character to the next level, so to speak. No need to worry about an ID crisis. Progress report ∞ Personal blog ∞
JD1215 June 22, 2015 June 22, 2015 Hi slydshot, welcome to the community. A soulbond absolutely has potential to become a tulpa. Just as any other mental figure or character can be produced into a tulpa, a soulbond should be able to obtain the level of cognitive complexity seen in tulpas with enough effort. However, creating a tulpa means recognizing your soulbond as being independent from yourself. Along with this comes with the possibility for "deviation". All this means is that it becomes possible your tulpa may want to change its appearance, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will happen. The process of creating a tulpa involves thinking about it and spending time with it. This is often called tulpaforcing. During tulpaforcing, you often work on your tulpa's form and personality. To develop your tulpa's personality, you may want to check out some of the guides we have, to get a feel for how tulpas are developed. Signs of sentience include different kinds of communication attempts from your tulpa. Some of the most basic ones are head pressure, emotional responses, and alien thoughts. Your tulpa may also start communicating to you through body language or mindvoice, if developed. Over time, these kinds of responses may seem more and more separate and distinct from yourself. FallFamily June 24, 2015 June 24, 2015 [Hail] The line between soulbonds and natural tulpas (a lot of daydream characters and imaginary friends who gain sentience fit this category, but not all) is pretty blurry, but regardless of whether a soulbond will always be a soulbond or not, tulpamancy techniques can be useful. Soulbond, tulpa, walkin, split, etc. are origins. Really, though, once a person enters a system by some way, their origin isn't that important. As for them remaining themselves, don't try to rewrite their personality (depending on how developed they are, that wouldn't work any better than them trying to rewrite your personality, nor would it go over well) and let them develop naturally. As for outsourced soulbonds (based on characters from outside sources), most manage pretty well as long as they understand that they are their own person. My system has four members who are somewhere on the natural tulpa - soulbond spectrum. Tri and E manage pretty well. They are outsourced soulbonds too. You might be interested in looking at a rather new soulbonding forum (The Living Library) in addition to here. Spending time in multiple different plural communities is quite useful (my system is a part of four tulpamancy communities, two wider plurality communities, and that soulbonding one).
