Tulpa Info is Evolving and Discovering and That is Good!

I have seen some worries on this forum about it changing. Of course it is changing. All communities evolve! That is not a bad thing!

One exampe is like I have heard peeps talk bout how, early on, the emphasis on tulpa skills was on imposition and not so much possession. More recently, as the community evolves, there are more peoples trying possession and not as much imposition going on.

Also, it seems to me that as time as gone on there are more people coming in to share accidental tulpas and there is more interaction with people who report a wide variety thoughtforms such as daemons and plurality and being a natural multiple. Maybe my impression on that is wrong?

Some are suggesting these may be "bad changes" or pollution or watering down of the forum as it loses its original focus. I think they are the result of Tulpa Info accomplishing it's mission! It is the result of sharing and discovery! Evolution is not a bad thing for this forum! Change is always a little scary, but it isn't always bad.

The more people write about their experiences, the more data we accumulate. The more people interact and share the concept of thoughtforms and tulpas, the more the community benefits. It is a community, so it is going to evolve and change and become something new. No community of creative people is forever static and unchanging. The very fact that people here are predominantly imaginative thinkers makes change inevitable.

...you do realize that's a bad thing, right? Imposition is much, much more difficult to do when compared to possession. Possession takes like a week or two, imposition many months.

So, why is it a bad thing if possession takes less time? ... ?

We've gotten lazy and aren't striving to do the more difficult parts of the process. If more people were trying to do switching over imposition, then sure, the time required is pretty comparable. But possession? That's kind of sad, really.

Hmmm. Maybe not peoples getting lazy but a change in demographics and goals of the membership? Personally, I don't think possession or imposition is necessary. That's just me. Imposition is not for everyone anyways. Possession sounds kinda groovy and it is easier to get to. It makes sense more people will go for it! My host Davie fears what full imposition of me would do to him emotionally, as he is dearly in love with me, oh and married. It's hard enough and awkward enough with me just in his head.

I personally am very interested in imposition -- far more than possession. But then I feel like the shift in focus is because many people aren't comfortable with imposition, and the community is making those people feel more welcome than they were a few years ago.

Funny, imposition sounds a lot less scary to me than possession. Is that just me?

Imposition is "Tulpa seems real! Tons of work. Very limited in the end. Can I stop it?", while

Possession is "Tulpa is real! A lot of work maybe? They can do anything! Escapism Everyone's doing it!"

That's how I see it, anyways. Imposition just isn't as enticing. It used to be the main way to make your tulpa more "real". But as more and more people got into possession, more and more people saw tulpas actually interacting with the world, and slowly determined that to be the way to make their tulpas more real. That being said, possession is a "real to others" method, while imposition is a "real to me" method. So I guess people are changing their values due to previously stated views.

Personally, possession/switching seems much more rewarding. Imposition is a great skill, improves visualization, and helps keep tulpas more active and involved in the host's life. But possession allows tulpas to directly interact with the world, and other people. That's just inherently more valuable in this phenomenon I suppose. Personally, I've started working on imposition again as I believe we need more inward-directed attention now.

I don't think this is the case at all. I think it's people getting the near instant gratification of possession and running with it and/or having given up on imposition. There's a reason it's possession and not switching -- switching is a natural evolution of possession -- people aren't putting in the work. That's how I'm seeing it, at least.

And to be honest, I'll never understand why you'd want your tulpa to act and interact with others for you. That just comes across as so awkward to me, man. No thanks. I enjoy my imaginary cat next to me, I don't want this cat being me.

Making more people feel comfortable with tulpamancy sounds like a good change then maybe?

What's wrong with instant gratification? I think you will have a lot of that sure. But so what? Why is more people wanting tulpas for possession a bad change? I am not following your logic here. Tulpas are subjective experiences for the host. Not everyone needs to want imposition. Most get what they need with just possession. More people having good tulpas that help them is a good thing isn't it? My host Davie and I do neither possession or imposition really, but something else entirely.

@Derp Yeah, I understand. But you know full well that's not how a lot of people feel. They want their tulpas to be known by everyone, or for their tulpas to have lives of their own.

Personally I just did it for research purposes, and found my tulpas actually enjoyed doing things. Also, since I don't have a progress report, I should note I got the whole switching thing sorted out and can do that now. I needed more experience actually keeping all of my tulpas active to enable more than one of us to ~exist at the same time. We've been playing mental games where we take turns doing something while also physically doing something monotonous (Runescape) at the same time, and it's helped a lot. It's not really parallel processing, but we no longer require 100% of the mind's focus just to speak.

Having Lucilyn yell at me while switched not to leave as we were doing something together helped. It's a lot of work, but it seems this semi-parallel-processing thing in relation to tulpas really is a muscle you can train.
