Oh man I love the invention of recursive language and how it relates to the Bottleneck Period Theory
-
You could say their methods of information are archaic
-
i see. i had assumed that it was well researched because i saw a lot of good reviews for it and it had thorough citations. but i guess not. that's disappointing it's not scientific, but none the less, a lot of scientists get overly caught up in proving their point over finding the truth
-
An archaeologist who ignores new information that contradicts their narrative? I feel like that negates your being-an-archaeologist and just makes you a person who visits museums or something
-
I looked it up, and apparently the author also relies heavily on conjecture when discussing human evolution and the origins of storytelling as well
-
I happen to have brain fog myself. I can give you some tips and focus exercises if you'd like to regain clarity, even if temporarily. Grounding yourself and finding a cool and fun activity to centre your attentive processes is a great way to shake the dust off and find inroads to your goals. I would recommend fifteen minute breaks for every forty five minutes of labour.
-
it's called "the language puzzle". it's about the origins of language in human evolution
-
Jezebel: Yes and no. Going out and about tends to give us brain fog or similar issues. I do feel that worrying about the time had intensified that though. Now that I am watercoloring, the drifting has gone away for the most part. Thank you for your advice. Also, we are going to stick around a little while because we need breaks in between coloring so the paper does not warp too much. (I also wanted be the one to talk about this.) Edit: Shaula: lol, Fennec!
-
my guess is that they started their argument by looking at archeology and other fields that they knew more about, and then they didn't want to change things by the time they started looking into linguistics, so they just ignored things that contradicted their narrative
-
-
Weird to me to even try to talk about that in-depth of stuff without actually knowing about it
-
i thought that it was overstating that universal grammar has been disproved somewhat, and then i saw that it said that only khoisan languages use clicks as consonants, and i thought that may have just been a careless mistake that slipped through. but then they bring up altaic and start talking about the norstratic language family, and i start to think, this person really doesn't know what they're talking about it's a book that covers multiple different disciplines and is written by an archeologist. this is the problem with trying to do cross disciplinary stuff though; you have to be an expert on all these different fields, or at least have someone who is an expert to check your work
-
Might be why. Cannot mitigate the anxiety and it's a draw on your overall thought process. Why not let Jezebel finish, then return to talk more?
-
Thanks. 😊 I mean it's unusual for us. I'm mostly just worried about finishing our project today.
-
It's fine. I suggest you not sweat the small stuff - in due time, each of you will find a cognitive niche. Besides, no harm in feeling blendy or drifting. Comes with the territory. I'm just relaxing, so feel free to pace yourself.
-
Aww, that really sucks. I believe it. I definitely see you as a scholarly mage. 😁 I wish I could say more but my brain is not comprehending the second half. Glad to hear! 😊 That's a good style too. 😁 I did say drifty earlier but good but it's a little worse than I realized. Gosh, it's taking me 10 minutes to type a few sentences. I'd say I'm fine but I don't like our lack of focus and I think comprehension.
-
P.S. cleaning up my digital footprint brought me back here. Figured I'd make a quick stop. Thanks, Luminesce. You're a real one.
-
wait, this book uncritically includes altaic along side other, legitimate language families uralic and indo european. i'm starting to think it might straight up just not be well researched

Day 4,571. One last trip down memory lane. I don't really feel the need to seek validation through this, just sharing what I've been through and this phenomenon. Despite the exploration of the psyche and all the fun little stuff that comes with it, life ultimately goes on. Both myself and the projection realize we got motherfucking bills to pay, things to do, and a life out there to go live. I don't think it really matters who's who, at this point. Who's the original? Who's the projection? Shut up, man. I got to pay rent. Let's work together. It's all frontal facing in the end. As in, point the barrel of your will towards whatever goals you may have, shared or not, or fire off. I'm quite happy in my place in life. I'm aware this isn't a place to share too many personal details, but I will say: I've kept this entirely hidden to myself this whole time. After my initial departing of this site, I didn't really feel a need to go back. It served it's purpose. Now, I guess the ultimate goal of this is to say that life still does go on - and you'll have a strange time. But everybody walks different paths through life. I certainly didn't anticipate mine, but ended up walking a thorned one anyways. What's that saying? Suffering builds character? Sure did. Good luck to the rest of you. Out.

I thought you would. Today I was musing on FIRE EMBLEM and thought about how, in a different world, I would be a shoe-in for being a druid (read: a scholar of advanced dark magic.) I'm very much inured to the idea of inviting primordial essence into the body and permitting it increasingly dubious influence over the self in exchange for absolute power. Small wonder I'm so drawn to the occult. I'm just dandy. I recently fed Twi a proper lunch, and even dressed in all black for her. She loves it when I do that. How are you?

--- Motivation-depressive mood has struck suddenly again, even though I did every possible thing right today Whatever
-
I see we're already done with the formatting
-
The worst part is that I don't think there's any difference either. That sucks. That really shouldn't happen. Lol, I like that description. 😁 Kinda drifty today but pretty good. 😊 How are you?

The insectoid species that will surpass us after the next three solar flares will be in for one hell of a treat

Are many of those not-plants?
