  3. What are the odds of another ringgggg voice reveal
  4. Ok, this is totally NSFW and probably way, way, way TMI, but it's also wonderful and terrific and shows what a major sweetie my host consciousness is, so I have to post it here.
  5. what are the odds of jean luc dropping another episode of tulpaudcast on the 10 year anniversary of lotpw
  6. Can't stay motivated if you never do anything to motivate yourself What are the odds of Jean-luc coming back for the 10-year anniversary of LOTPW
  7. being bad at something that you never do is normal. doesn't mean you have some sort of special brain that can never do those things
  8. Good morning No offense, but I’m calling BS on this one. Of course you’re not going to perform as well as others if you’re not doing things to further improve yourself on the creativity front. Barring stuff from you because you’re not naturally inclined toward it is pretty counterproductive, and there’s lots of things around to help with that anyway. It’s by no means a permanent thing as it stands Creativity is a muscle. Try browsing references and copying an online build 1:1 to see what they were going for
  9. of course we can come up with ideas, but they look between meh and horrible when we try to actually do them vs what was in our head (talking about art stuff in general, not just minecraft)
  10. nobody has ever created something out of nothing; nothing is truly freeform. you just have to learn a new set of patterns than the ones you are familiar with i can't understand how you would have a hard time coming up with ideas. if you're really stuck just do something based on what you're looking at
  11. idk making things out of nothing is hard hard to have feasible ideas, and then it never turns out like you envisioned even when you have an idea, and poking and prodding usually doesn't make it much better in our experience freeform stuff is just really hard for us to do but I would guess probably the real difference is "creative-brained" people just do lots of freeform stuff even when it's bad and so they learn many ways to be creative over time, whereas logic-brained people can be afraid to try and do things without guidance of some form (like following patterns for example), so they don't learn freeform creative stuff in his art class in high school pretty much everything Lumi drew/colored was formulaic/patterned in some way, and then the only two things he ever drew without a guiding pattern or such were the bunny and the me in that one painting game, and they were solid 3-year-old finger painting quality so yeah, I think brains can have a propensity but I'm sure pretty much anyone can learn to do things how other people do too with practice, maybe a lot of practice
  12. sure, but if you're complaining about choice paralysis, just looking at what you already have will narrow down your options a lot, and it is helpful because you already have the block so you can easily tell how it will look. if there is some specific block that you want to use but don't have, you can use that, but this is for when you don't have a good idea of what you want to do that seems strange to me. most every activity that people engage in has principals and restrictions; those who don't see those restrictions are still working with them, just on a more intuitive level. but these aren't fundamentally different ways of engaging with something; there is the per-structural stage where you don't know the principals and you have to just trust your intuition, the structural stage where you have learned the principals and use them to guide your engagement with the activity, and the post-structural stage, where you have internalized the principals to the point where you no longer need to actively consider them in order to engage with the activity in a way that works with them intelligently. you don't just stay at one stage forever; you move through them as your knowledge and skill increases
  13. good: we can make rice pretty painlessly in our rice cooker now not good: we still do not know how to make the rice taste like anything just used taco seasoning that we had (it smells like tacos, in bold) and thought it would be too strong, but it barely added a tiny bit of flavor to the rice lol it seems maybe impossible to add seasoning/flavor to the rice itself (obviously you can add like chopped stuff after but) without sautéing in an oil or butter first, since apparently fats make the rice absorb flavor more but that defeats the ENTIRE point of having a rice cooker and avoiding hard work cooking like we want!! probably gonna add garlic powder and a bit of salt manually next time, been going 1 ingredient difference at a time just to make sure we learn what changes the flavor how
  14. Finished the pool room! 😊 Or at least it's more or less finished, I think glowstone lighting on the ceiling would make a really perfect touch. For me when I build I just start with small ideas which gradually grow into bigger and bigger ideas. I never have a master plan for what I'm going to do. I have a vague notion for what the rest of my area might look like but I'll fill in the details as I go. I also tend to play in 1-2 hour bursts and quit when I start getting tired of it so I don't burn out.
  15. uh well we usually think of people as tending towards "left brain or right brain", so having an easier time with freeform creative activities and no restrictions, vs having an easier time with logic and rules in place as guidance but while we do observe that to apply to lots of people, it's also at least partially considered a myth, and Kitkat on the Discord said their system was very logic-brained as well but through work learned to be creative and now they can do both, and they had a whole set of skills to prove it lol haven't looked into it study-ly but that sounds about right to us, people having ways their brains naturally prefer to work, but being able to learn to work in other ways too with conscious practice also realistically people are a huge mish mash of ways their brains do and don't naturally prefer to work, it's not as simple as just being logic-brained or creative-brained, but it's an easy concept to convey some about yourself to people so
  16. why don't we have the brain for this stuff lucilyn
  17. there's tons of easy to get blocks that you might not keep in chests, like snow blocks or red nether bricks what we do is go to a creative SP world and look through and place all the potential building blocks that seem like we might use them and see which seems like the best basis for what we vaguely have in mind, then test some other blocks/plants/etc. in combination with them we're real bad at fancy highlights/details, eg. a log cabin with plank walls but log corners and wall tops/bottoms, or stone block pillars to accentuate log walls, or idk idk we do not have the brain for that stuff (when we try what I just said for example it never looks right), we usually keep things simple but try to make them pleasing to be in/around
  18. Yesterday
  19. Makes sense to limit your pallet. I wonder what theme would arise if I randomize which blocks I’d get
  20. my recommendation is to look in your chests and find maybe five or so blocks that you think will look good together, and then start building with those blocks. i am also challenging myself to use a different block palette in all my builds, so maybe you could try something like that too, if you want to get familiar with more blocks
  21. Sounds like we do have the same brain. There are so many blocks to choose from. Though I think if I spent some time getting used to them I’d be able to do something, so building shoeboxia is probably good for that
  22. i think that there is a line between "pranking" and "griefing", and if what you're doing drastically inconveniences your mark, then it has crossed that line
  23. I think you've got the same brain as us, it's really hard to envision building a whole area yourself, but adding onto a basis someone else already created is really easy we struggle with open-endedness/infinite options
  24. A little light pranking is fine, but nothing that drastically inconveniences anyone. 😊
  25. If clearing out a patch of furnaces on my plot gives me something to do, I’m all for it
  26. complicated feelings when we've worked hard (by our standards) on an area we really dislike when people mess anything up about it but we also logically value that feeling less than people just doing what they want and having fun, since that's the actual point of playing in the first place also if we've not built in the area (like if there's just natural terrain and grass outside our base) then we don't mind people doing literally whatever way back in a modpack we played in 2013, our friend did whatever this is to the outside of Lumi's base (just in the mountain) and it's still a funny memory for our friend group to this day but yeah in this exact server and place I kinda don't like people messing with spawn I offered for it to be a joint thing for everyone to build at early on but no one was interested and went elsewhere so then I saw it as my job/area to make look nice (now about half of it was built by Ring though)
