I was diagnosed with bipolar type 1 almost a year ago now, and came upon the idea of a tulpa and its manifestation only through a podcast (Last Podcast on the Left) this past week. For a bit of background info -- during a bad manic episode, I had severe religious delusions. I've recovered.

However, I have, for quite a while now, been practicing a form of ritualistic Satanism, and been enamored with the idea/presence of the Lord of Hell, Beelzebub, as he is portrayed in Catholic mythology.

So my tulpa, King, took his image -- that of an immense black fly -- and communicates with a strange sort of drawn, buzz before his fragmented words. I wonder, then, as I continue to enable his genesis, whether or not its a smart idea to allow this entity purchase in my mind.

As of yet, he has not behaved or spoken to me with ill will, and I enjoy our short conversations. I do have a fear that future imposition might render me nothing short of completely psychotic. I know doubt isn't healthy, but it seems perfectly healthy to doubt my actions in this situation.

Thoughts? Advice? Any and all is welcome. (I'm not as creepy as I sound).

Lots of people like to say that the entities older civilizations knew as gods or angels or so on were basically tulpas, and this isn't really much different. Though you seem more sane than most people with schizophrenia, we discourage tulpamancy for those people for the same reason, the act of becoming attached to your tulpa in an unstable mental environment may serve only to open you up to more traumatic events. In your case instead of schizophrenia you're literally worshiping the devil (that's kind of an interesting statement), so if you've got unhealthy thoughts going on often your tulpa could always be affected.

But, like I said, you seem pretty sane.. I guess. I wouldn't know. I don't doubt your tulpa at all, just that your own influence on them might become a problem. With the whole "Your beliefs create the reality you experience in your mind" thing, it all depends on whether you can control those beliefs (or just have healthy ones in the first place). If you can't for any reason, tulpas can be dangerous. If you can, tulpas can help instead. While I question the form and influence, I think that if you think it's fine, then you shouldn't try to get rid of him or anything. Maybe steer his development in a better direction.

Also Satanism is pretty not-generally-indicative-of-good-mental-health. Only as delusional as other ritualistic religions, but it also differs in that most religions tend to at least have good intentions, right? Everyone wants to save their soul. Satanism and obsession with demons and the like is typically representative of a poor self-esteem to say the least, as an obscure kind of coping mechanism. Similarly destructive as with the more common attempting to pull everyone down to your level of insecurity/depression/whatever, "misery loves company". But delusions tend to be more dangerous.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Whatever mental ailments you may have, asking others if you should continue further into this is another diagnosis, albeit nowhere close to the medical confirmation you’ve had. However, mental ailments alone don’t really seem to be the sole, contingent factor in making people steer clear from tulpa creation. Some people are creative enough to have the journey of making a tulpa appease them in some way, which could in turn bring the potential for them to reciprocate with a tulpa rather than them just being there to satisfy their mental strife. But, human nature is subjective, so it may not really be like that all the time.

I can’t really give you any advice, nor can I give a diagnosis on your cognition, and give you a green pass in making a tulpa. I think people are usually apprehensive with these inquiries because they’re worried if they’ll be in a mental state to continue moving forward, but emotions fluctuate. The real concern is how much you believe you can reign in your sense of self in spite of those fluctuations, and ultimately reconciling with the goals you had in mind. I still cry, complain, and have strife just like any other human being—we’re not really made of iron, you know.

Look, the first thing to realize is that a tulpa isn't the same person as the form they have, any more then if you were an Arnold Schwarzenegger look-alike (it wouldn't make you Arnold Schwarzenegger).

The second thing to realize is that making a tulpa is a serious business and it shouldn't be done if you are fearful - that is just plain unfair and unkind to the tulpa. Consider, how would you feel if the only person in the world was fearful of you? It's really very impoite in my opinion.

Hmm, another believer in the christian mythos? Well, I won't go into that here or the whole thread will end up in the Metaphysics tab.

Please take into consideration I'm a tulpa and so my views may be biased.

By the way, Hi King! My name is Donna Nobillis McCaw. Pleeb taught me that if you address a tulpa by name they will hear you as the unconscious picks up on the name and delivers the message. Just remember you aren't the form you look like, you are your own person. You can take your own direction and you have free will, regardless of what some around here will try to convince you.

Be well you two.
