    • My tulpa(s) is/are independently sentient and other tulpas in the community probably are independently sentient as well.

I am so confused now. I am Melian, a person. I agree with you Tewi.

All I wanted to do with this poll was find out how many hosts think their tulpas have their own real mind and how many think their tulpas don't have their own real mind. Apparently it isn't that simple. You can't ask a simple question on this forum. It is always made to be more complicated that it is.

Do you think your tulpa is real or do you think your tulpa is not real?

There how is that one? Now someone is going to come along and say "what do you mean by "real?"

*the next scene is Melian hanging from a noose, with a note pinned to her dress "Just couldn't take it anymore."*

I refreshed the posts list and opened this thread in a new tab, but for some reason I decided to refresh again and there was a new post. Post order's not getting confusing at all.

Like I said, the word independent was irrelevant. The thread and poll still work just fine either way. She wasn't asking you to call your tulpa independently sentient or dependently sentient, it was just a qualifier for the question. Which still stands. So you might as well answer.

Yes, no shit. What do you mean by real because you could mean, like, five different things. No, it's not hard, it's only hard if you insist on using words that are horribly ambiguous. Does it really come as a surprise to you that terms that are developed to refer to physical things (and, by the way, aren't very precise anyway) don't work all that well when you start talking about mental experiences?

I know what you meant by the question, you ask it enough. But I don't think that you have grasped some important concepts about how to talk about tulpas in a useful way. Would this come as a surprise to you, given how much trouble you seem to have articulating your views on tulpas to the rest of the community, and have had for some time now?

Or people can ignore the poll altogether and realize to their utter joy that Mistgod and Melian will never attempt such a poll ever again. LOL

That is because tulpamancy itself is horribly ambiguous. What concepts? We are not having trouble "grasping the concepts." Tulpamancy is not rocket science, it is just foggy non-science.

Mistgod and I am coming to the final conclusion from this that tulpamancers themselves are completely and utterly clueless, but only pretend they are not. It is an epiphany. There is no way to talk about tulpas in a useful and productive way from what I can see. It's not that we are not doing it properly at all, it is that there is in fact, no way to do it that will be in any way satisfactory.

I might as well go back to writing about painting my toe nails and my choice of girly clothes.

I mean, we use the terms "independent" and "sentient" to refer to completely different things in the community anyway

The different possibilities all cancel each other out, as Melian said. Asking if a tulpa is independently sentient is fine, because asking if they're dependently sentient would mean they're not independent at all. Asking if they're independently non-sentient would mean they're not.. well, I suppose they could be a non-sentient thoughtform, but that's still irrelevant to tulpas. Asking if they're dependently non-sentient is asking if you have a thought of a person in your mind.

None except "Is your tulpa independently sentient? = Is your tulpa independent|sentient? = Is your tulpa controlled by you or themselves?" make sense.

I told you the word independent was pointless, but it wasn't wrongly used or confusing per se, just redundant. You can bring up its use to discuss its pointlessness, but there was nothing wrong with the thread/poll itself.

This is a little frustrating because there are people around with knowledge and arguments, but whenever y'all hear something you don't wanna hear, your posts become all about how no one knows anything.

I mean how long till you get tired of the same old song and dance? Same thing happened in the thread about tulpa death where you brushed off an argument because it wasn't what you had in mind when you started the thread.

We're all gonna make it brah.

People are clueless about tulpa dissipation as well. That is a perfect example that only props up what we are finally, fully recognizing today. No worries, the good news is we realize these threads, or posting on these threads is almost pointless. Well, helping someone be encouraged to recreate their tulpa wasn't pointless, that was really a good thing. But talking about how it all really happens was pointless, because no one really knows anything.

I mean we recognize that tulpamancers know how to create tulpas, they just don't know much of anything else for sure.

I find it difficult to seriously discuss some matters related to tulpamancy, because almost nothing is factual. How am I to say anything except for my own opinion? Is telling people what I think is right right? So many people forget there aren't facts that they sometimes take what I state so seriously as fact, and then others are upset with me for implying my opinions were fact. So how could I tell anyone we're sentient?

I am beginning to finally, finally see the light Tewi. FINALLY.

All the arguing about the definitions and the inadequacy and ambiguity of terminology and semantics finally brought it home. Nobody knows anything.

We share our subjective experiences, sometimes they line up, sometimes they don't, optimally we all learn from each other and somehow improve our own experience with what we learn.

That's basically all there is to it. As for definitions, they've never been a test or something to strive toward, they simply help group subjective experiences under labels others can understand to facilitate sharing our experiences without confusing each other too much.
