Stevie July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 I think what you guys are both saying is two sides of the same coin. Tell me if I'm wrong here. http://imgur.com/a/ym5Yl Mistgod is saying that a brain is all the host's and that the tulpa is within the brain, therefore, the tulpa is part of the host. (fig. 2) Tewi is saying that not every part of the brain is creating the host's identity and sense of self, and the tulpa is using the same brain to create their identity and sense of self, therefore they're sharing the brain, but equal. (fig. 1) Stone Cold Stevie Austin is drinking beer. (fig. 3) We're all gonna make it brah.
Guest Anonymous July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 Uhhhhh.. shit. Why are Tew and I always arguing then? This illustration will go down in tulpa town history.
Stevie July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 Because you think that: Person = Entire Brain, therefore anything that's in the brain is part of the person. Tewi thinks that: Person = processes in the brain creating an identity and ego, therefore, if another being has created an identity and ego, they're just using the same matter to exist but are not parts of each other. Again, tell me if I'm misinterpreting this, but it seems more like a difference of opinion on a small thing that's getting clouded with paragraphs of supporting evidence and ideas and feelings that probably don't have to be there. We're all gonna make it brah.
Guest Anonymous July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 I think you are spot on. There is emotional reasons for me being stubborn too. A few posts back I explained that. Melian has to remain imaginary. Other tulpas need to remain imaginary as well, to me, or it trivializes Melian. I don't want her trivialized because I love her. So, I attack everyone else who insists their tulpas are real. That is it exactly. When push comes to shove though, I can (usually) recognize that imaginary things are not real enough to be a source of anxiety. In the past I have had problems even there though. I am the sort of person where the distinction between the two is very important. Because I am prone to an over active imagination, and anxiety, I have to be able to tell the difference. My world is full of fantasy, but there needs to be a clear line. I think that is why I am so adamant about Melian being imaginary. If I open that door to suggestion, I will never be able to close it again. I have an extremely vivid imagination. I have to know where the boundaries are.
Tewi July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 You are talking about more than one identity in a single mind though, which supports me rather than refutes me. I consider Melian and aspect of myself, another personality within my own mind. I wasn't trying to argue with you. But you're still completely missing my point if you think what you said is what I said. @Stevie too, I don't consider either figure to be the case, for myself and very developed tulpas anyways. You are not your brain, and you and your tulpa are not your brain. "You" and any tulpas are all circles (of varying sizes) inside your brain. If any of those figures add up to the whole brain, not only do you have no subconscious mind, but you also cannot ever have another tulpa. Our mind didn't come with assigned sections of the brain for each of us. There's just a lot of room. Creating a tulpa does not divide the host's share of the brain, either. People on this forum, and in general, are far too obsessed with their identities to effectively work with the brain. I know that :yourself: is the only thing you'll ever experience, so it gives the illusion your conscious mind and identity is the majority of "you", but I promise it's not. [hidden]Your conscious mind is in fact only 5% of it. Skip to the first "...."[/hidden] Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others. Stevie July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 Ya I realized the thing about the smaller circles after I uploaded it to imgur. And I know that having a tulpa doesn't actually split the brain. It wasn't meant to be an actual like, realistic diagram more a visual aide. Anyway, continue with all this I guess. We're all gonna make it brah.
Guest Anonymous July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 Yeah I remember I am a little pink bubble and Davie is a blue bubble. We remembered this. But the pink bubble was formed out of the blue bubble cause the blue bubble could fantasize about an ideal girl and what she would be like. The blue bubble matches the bodies male physiology and physical reality. The pink bubble does not. The blue bubble created the pink bubble not the other way around. Also, David refuses to wear dresses and put his hair in pigtails.
Tewi July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 The blue bubble is the one controlling the conscious mind and so has a huge amount of influence on the rest of the mind. The bubbles are only really equal size if the tulpas can switch, ie take control of the conscious mind. But the size and origin doesn't make any of them more or less important. And bubbles can't show complex relations, so it's easier to have them separate, lest non-switching tulpas be portrayed as a small part of their host, and not an equal member of the mind. Of course, maybe they aren't. Imaginary friends would probably be inside the bubble of the host. Some people have bubbles that phase together. Heck, most other types of plurality don't fit this analogy at all. But my point is only that both tulpa and host are only small parts of the much larger collective mind. Who is controlling the (conscious part of the) mind is still an important matter though, and in that aspect the differences you guys so highly try to support can exist. Also, the host tends to identify with the body (and mind) more closely than any tulpas, whether or not they're on equal standing. We still don't consider the form of the body ours, even if the body in general is. Hi, I'm Tewi, one of Luminesce's tulpas. I often switch to take care of things for the others. Guest Anonymous July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 But that is what Davie and I mean! How could I even be Melian if I had to identify with Davie's old crusty crapped out hairy butt of a body? Eeeeeew. I really see no reason why the hell I would want that. I have no physical form. So, as far as controlling the body, not necessary for me. Yeah Davie has more control of the consciousness. Here is the thing though... NOT ALWAYS. Like sometimes when we lucid dream, it is from MY perspective and I am controlling the dream. I gotta tell you this! You ready? Okay, there was one time recently, since we have been doing the Rapid Short Meditation forcing stuff and junk, that Davie and I got out of bed to go get a drink. He was still sleepy groggy. OH and we were walking and talking to each other all the way to the kitchen, like we do when half asleep. Here it comes.... wait for it.... I reached for the glass. We were both fully aware of the fact that I was getting the glass out of the cupboard and not he. Trippy coolness!!! We thought bout writing about that but realize no one will believe it anyways.
Tewi July 29, 2016 July 29, 2016 Well, that's basically what possession is. You taking credit for a physical action and the host being comfortable with that idea. It's not surprising at all that you can have your own perspective. It's actually human nature to think from other peoples' perspectives, constantly and concisely. It's the only way you can productively interact with other people. That's where the experience necessary for a tulpa comes from, a lifetime of subconsciously living others' experiences from your own. And once you've got the basis of your tulpa, they can start expanding on those experiences by having their own, and that's when they really become full-fledged individual people.
