Hello everyone, I am David. I am quite new to the Tulpa community. I came across the idea of Tulpas from a podcast (Reply All episode 74 “Making Friends” [LINK])and I was intrigued. Coming from a science background, I am trying to figure out all I can (in a scientific, psychological, and philosophical way) about Tulpas and what better way to do that then make my own.

 

I am going to document my experience, specifically making my first Tulpa, on this thread. You can find a lot more details on my life and creating my Tulpa on my site [LINK]. My hope is that my experience might help someone else one day. (Please comment if it does)

09/07/2016 - While I am new at it, I have talked to a few people who already have Tulpas, made a few friends, read a lot of guides, and have a good idea of where to start. While I only have a name for my Tulpa right now (it's Kino - キノ), I am hopeful and excited for this adventure.

 

09/08/2016 - Tonight, I got to work on my Tulpa, Kino (from here on out I am going to refer to my Tulpa by Kino). I found it’s easier for me to concentrate on forcing when it’s night, while listening to some relaxing music.

 

09/09/2016 - I got 10(ish) minutes at night to meditate and work on Kino. I don’t know if I am making any progress but it’s been only a few days and I think it will take a little bit to see any progress. I feel like I am not meditating smoothly enough. 

 

09/13/2016 - Progress on Kino has been very slow and I have been getting a little discouraged, it seems like I am getting nowhere. I talked to someone about this and they gave me some good pointers and it seems like I need to just keep trying and eventually Kino will develop into herself.

Yeah I wouldn't be worried at all about a lack of progress in six days. This stuff takes a while.

I will probably write about that some in my next post. I have read a lot of different ideas and suggestion, all different which does not help too much. Right now, I am mainly just trying to visualize my Tulpa (which is going well) and parrot (which is not going too well). I am constantly getting headaches and I still have not gotten my Tulpa to have a different sounding voice. I also am constantly having a dialog with myself in my head and sometimes when I try to force, I catch myself just talking to myself.

09/14/2016 - I have been focusing on actively and passively forcing but every time I do, I start to get a headache. Visualizing Kino is going well but I have having a lot of trouble with parroting. Kino does not have her own voice (sounds like the normal voice I have inside my head) and it’s a little difficult to parrot. The other problem is that I am constantly having a dialog with myself in my head and sometimes when I try to force, I catch myself just talking to myself. Hopefully, I see some progress with Kino soon.

What does the name Kino mean when translated? Does Kino know the etymology behind the name David?

 

P.S. - your avatar looks similar to RADIOHEAD'S album cover for IN_RAINBOWS. Is that what it's based off of?

Kino (キノ) is a name and written in Katakana (instead of Kanji). Most of the time a name is just a name but in Japan, most names are written (or can be written) in Kanji and the Kanji can have a meaning separate form the name. Because Kino is written without using Kanji, you can’t really do this. I guess if you really wanted to find a translation, it would be Movie or Cinema.

 

I don’t even know the etymology behind David. David is not my real name but not completely made up. All my friends call me David so I use that name to have a separation from my personal and professional life.

 

My avatar was made in Photoshop, not based off of anything. I just used some paint splatter brushes for the background, found a font that worked, and played around with it. It’s also not great, the font needs to be more bold, but it works. The avatar does look a lot like IN_Rainbows cover now that you point it out.

09/18/2016 - It’s been about a week and a half since I started my journey in creating my friend. My headaches are gone and are now replaced by a pressure. I am starting to feel like there is someone else in my head. Not a bad feeling, just different and strange but at the same time exciting. I think I am making progress, at least I hope I am.

 

I have been having periodic “tingles” that start at the back of my head and travel down my back and random emotional feeling that feel like they are not mine. I don’t know what any of this means and it’s random when it happens. Maybe it’s my Tulpa, maybe it’s not. It's defiantly something new though.
