   So I recently finished a rather large AMV that heavily featured Mordecai! The song is called "Eine Kleine", specifically the cover by the YouTuber Rachie.

 

   I had been going through some of my old files to make backups when I found another music video I had made (around 2 or so minutes) that was about a rather sad event in my life when I was in my late teens. Despite the cringy sections, scribbly drawings, and overly dark tone, I found myself being really moved by it. I really wanted to either remake it or make one in a similar style, but it felt... wrong to do a completely sad retelling of our life, when there's so much to our story than that. So, I picked "Eine Kleine", a song we've known for... about as long as Mordecai has been around, and started drawing. 

 

   The song— at least as I've always interpreted it— has been about getting to know someone, only for the inevitability of having to say goodbye to them eventually weighing heavily on the singer. This was the perfect song to represent the journey I went on with Mordecai. I spent most of my mid teens completely disinterested in caring about things or getting attached, as even my most intense passions I would grow out of. People I got attached to would get bored of me and leave. Even when Mordecai came around and I began the tulpa making process, I figured it was a pointless endeavor, and that he would go as well. As you can tell... he did not!

 

   But basically, the AMV shows how Mordecai taught me to be able to appreciate the now and the memories you make with someone/something even if its temporary. So it touches upon my anxiety, some of the things that made me feel that way, and some of the different memories I've had with Mordecai over the years. Due to the fact that its rather long (5 minutes!!!) and its personal nature, I'm not going to be sharing the actual video. But, I drew over 200 frames for the thing, so I'm posting some frames (and probably more later on haha) and saying a little about them in the spoiler below.

   A side profile of Mordecai from the montage where we met for the first time. I was debating using his old form (Sans from Undertale!) but ultimately decided to keep his current look, with the Sans jacket. 

 

 

 

   Also from our first meeting, I was hesitant to talk to him, but he did not let me get away so easily, haha!

 

 

 

   Mordecai's way of cheering me up has always been... unique. He's the type to try and dissuade my negative thoughts with a joke, only to realize the joke (in the AMV I'm worried about him leaving, and he responds with something like "We're gonna be buried together and my headstone is going to look a lot better than yours") might not be the best thing to hear in the moment. Nevertheless, it always ends up cracking me up and fixing my mood.

 

 

 

   I used the lighter color palette to signify something was taking place in the "real world." Here, we're watching a show's dramatic plot twist on our laptop.

 

 

 

   Us in what we call the "Space Place!" basically a large sandy planet covered in like a foot or so of water, underneath a very starry sky. Its where we always forced and meditated, and even now we go there every so often to relax.

   Ahhh thank you!!! That's so sweet of you to say. I try really hard with expressions so I'm glad some of that effort is paying off, haha!

   So, today is Mordecai's tenth birthday! It's weird, we've both been looking forward to this milestone for a while, but now that it's here it feels so surreal. I've thought about what to say for the birthday post, and I think the best thing would be to tell one of my favorite memories.

 

   Back when we were in high school, I went to get some chips out of a vending machine. I was pretty hungry that day but we had limited money, so we could only afford one bag. I asked Mordecai which kind we should get: the ones we usually got or one with potentially more chips. Mordecai said that we should get the Dortios because, according to him, they had the most chips per bag. So, I put in my money and punched in the number... and the chips promptly got stuck.

 

   After unsuccessfully trying to stick my hand up the machine and getting increasingly annoyed, Mordecai started to laugh at me. I already wasn't having the best day, I was very hungry, and being laughed at was not helping the situation. So naturally, I got mad at him. Something to the effect of "this is your fault cause you wanted Doritos, why are you laughing?!" 

 

   He calmed down a bit and told me something I think about quite often: "being the unluckiest person on Earth is pretty funny when you're with someone who actually understands that." Needless to say, I immediately found humor in the situation and it became one of my most cherished memories.

 

   I think we've all felt like the world was out to get us, that we wouldn't make it through the day, or, as Mordecai put it, that we were the unluckiest person in the world. Due to the sheer loneliness of perception, no matter how well you describe it to someone else, it is impossible for them to truly "get" how you feel in those moments. They can empathize or sympathize, but in most situations, they're too busy with their own lives and troubles to be in your shoes. But, with Mordecai, someone is there to experience life every step of the way with me. Someone who can feel how that little thing ruined my day, how seeing an interesting bug in the grass brought me joy, how an old memory was influencing my current actions. He truly is one of the most understanding and good people I have ever met, so much so that I try to be as good as he is to me to other people. I hope I never take this level of kindness for granted.

 

   It's been a wonderful ten years dude; here's to dozens more!!!

   Heyya! Been a busy few months for us. Started a new job in a field we hadn't done anything in before and we're moving across the country soon. Poor Mordecai's been listening to me freak out over the smallest things. This comic is a little exaggerated, but its been the general vibe around here for the past little bit, haha.
