So my sweet lovable daughter (Suigintou) asks me a couple of weeks back, "Papa, is it okay for me to go and be my own person?"

 

I had an undeniable internal sense that she was dead serious. I could see in her mind, pictures of imagined friends and acquaintances, and feel her longing for such interactions.

 

I felt immensely proud of her, and sad, and honored all at the same time. I told her that of course she was welcome to go out into the world and explore it to her heart's content, and also to come back any time she felt like it.

 

I decided not to attempt to conjure her again, except to think fondly of her. I will let her go and do what it is that she wants to do. She has proven, by the existence of desire, to be sentient, IMO.

 

Does anyone else here have any knowledge of something like this happening to others?

I don't think "conjuring" her would be the end of the world, though. As long as she's getting to spend her time wherever it is she wants to.

By all means, if my question doesn't belong in the question area, please move it to the "crackpots and kooks" section. As to the individual who felt I was claiming some sort of superior enlightenment, I would simply say, a mind is like a parachute; it only works when it's open.
