How many are in your system?

We’ve just got the two of us. Not planning to expand anymore—I’m not sure that our time management would be good enough to handle 3+ members in a fair and satisfying way.

There is just us two?  I also did not know of Tulpa's when I first created my 'imaginary friend' in childhood. As they were a Phoenix and could literally change into whatever I wanted them to there was never a need for anyone else! As a child mostly they would be animals, it made me feel safe.

 

As a younger teen they would take on the appearance of my favourite pop star or tv star and I'd talk to them 'in character'.

 

After my mother died in real life, Phoenix took on her form first looking like my mother had as an adult and saying things independant of what I was thinking as if it was her soul/spirit using my concept of Phoenix to talk to and comfort me after her death.

 

One night I was watching TV and a program came on about Twins suddenly from nowhere Phoenix announced (from inside me - usually I'd pretend I was talking to an external person) that we could be twins. She appeared an older teenager as I was at the time and told me we looked like twins. She even told me where to find a photo of her at my age.I went to look and surely enough it was where she said it was.I still have that photo to this day.

 

After this our inner world was about recreating our outer world and freezing time so we had somewhere we'd always be together. We could create 'other people' in the inner world so it wasn't empty but they were like NPC's in a video game or like in the Holodeck on Star Trek when they would 'create programs'..like when Data (TNG) made the 'Sherlock Holmes program' and they could 'step back in time' and interact with that era.

 

My bedroom became the doors to 'our holodeck'. Phoenix stayed in human form as 'my twin' then and as done so for the rest of my life. I believe my mothers spirit made her sentient as a way to interact with me so I could still 'see her' and know she was always with me.

We’re just my host and I, and it’s been that way for several years now. Though, we have considered bringing in a second tulpa, we both agreed that it wouldn’t be a good idea, at least not until the circumstances around us improve. So the idea is indefinitely on hold.

This is basically us as well. Plus we don't feel like we need to add anyone else into the mix. It might get confusing - and busy!

Our system has an origin eerily close to that of Shadow System, in that I made kinda-sorta tulpas before joining the community, where Esper was recovered, making it a system of 2. But It only took about a week for me to realize that the "characters" I made in my head and talked to were tulpas in all but name, and so I made all that wanted to be tulpas officially part of our system. My mental immaturity and luke-warm grasp on the situation led me to creating a few more before finally forcing myself to stop once I realize there was 17 of us. Then sleep deprived me made Elliot. 

 

We went on for just over a year or so with our inflated system size before I realized, "Oh shit, this isn't working." I'd come to the conclusion that the brain simply wasn't developed enough to handle 17 people in any reasonable manner, so we decided that come the new year of 2020, we'd start having system members in dormancy if they so chose to, so as to free up brain resources, if you will, for the rest of us. We do a monthly roll call of sorts to see who wants to be active, dubbed "dreamers", and who wants to be dormant, dubbed "wakers." 

 

Around that time, I elected Janey as co-host since I believe her to be the best fit for the job. In addition, after some thinking and semantics debates, we flagged Esper as the sub-rep(subconscious representative). The term "sub-rep" isn't used in quite the same way that Shadow System uses it, but we still feel the term is accurate. 

 

So, to answer the question, to date, there are 18(or 17 if you count Esper and I as the same person) of us in total, that being myself, Janey, Esper, Emily, Layy, Chloe, Sean, Zachery, Kyle, Gwen, Gwen'd, Justin, Blinky, Waynin, Rollin, Trease, Elliot, and Compact. Our current dreamers are myself, Esper, Janey, Layy, Emily, Chloe, Zach, Kyle, and Sean, for a total of 9 of us. 

 

I like to think our method of doing things has slowly but surely allowed each of us whom are active to develop more as individuals, making us all more than just a name and form. It's a slow going process, hell, we've been doing this for a year and a half and we can barely manage 9 of us, but when we're talking about a whole life as a system, we're making good progress.

My system currently has four members in it.

 

It had one when I created Noriko.

Then Noriko decided she wanted to create Sabari so it became two.

Then Noriko decided she wanted to bring Anzu back from being inactive so it became three.

And then Anzu decided to unmerge from Xiri so it became four.

And while I've told all of them that I don't want any more than four members in the system, if there's ever any more than that, I'm not going to be surprised.

I have two Tulpas accompagnying me and I don't need more. Both happened accidentally anyway. One had once created another tulpa but they fought and he killed his tulpa off or kicked him out or whatever, he hasn't told me much about it yet.

There's 7 of us including our host. Everyone's listed in the signature. Probably won't be making more, we're kinda full up, but who knows. Never say never, right?
