Is it possible to create another tulpa by accident?

After talking to Lex (my tulpa) for a while and taking a short break, I started talking to him again. On a whim, I asked if I was talking to him earlier. He replied no. I'm 90% sure he was being glitchy, but I started worrying about it. Is it possible to accidentally create a tulpa with the same name and form as your original tulpa? Or worse, accidentally create another tulpa by worrying about whether or not you have two tulpas?

As with everything else in tulpamancy, it's about belief. So if you believe you have two tulpas, you're probably going to end up with two tulpas. However, I think it's much more likely that your tulpa was being glitchy, as that's really common with young tulpas. The "was that you?" test is helpful most of the time but you might get some false answers, not because your tulpa is lying or anything, maybe because they themselves aren't really sure yet. So I think it's very unlikely that you've already inadvertently created a second tulpa.

It's not unusual for people's expectations of their tulpa's responses to end up being heard instead of their tulpa's response sometimes. If a tulpa disagrees with you or is confused about what's going on, they'll tell you it wasn't them. Keep in mind it will take practice to get better at identifying Lex from yourself and this won't be as much of an issue later down the road.

 

I'm fairly certain it is not a second tulpa. There are cases where a new tulpa can be confused for a former one (I believe to be one myself), but this tends to happen in big systems and if it does happen, it's pretty rare. In our case, we suspect a confusing 'merge' and conflicting expectations caused the confusion in my system.

It’s possible to accidentally create a tulpa, but this absolutely sounds like your new tulpa is being glitchy. We’ve had this happen before and it was never a new tulpa.
