broadwaypianos November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 Okay, so I am in the beginning stages of creating my tulpa. The problem is that I can't decide on what I want him to look like. I know that probably he will alter his appearance in some way, and I am fine with that. I just want to make sure that he has a solid foundation. I know that his name is Chris, and that he is about 17 years old. All the ideas that I have had for him have been based on either tv shows, actors, or Gizmo from the Gremlins. I fear that by basing them on characters will start an identity crisis, and I know that that won't be pretty.... Have any of your tulpae had an identity crisis? If so, how did you deal with it? Thanks to all in advance for all responses! :) Tulpa:Chris Age:17 Male Working On:Sentience Adam's Tulpa Creation Log Some people blame our generation, but did they ever stop to think who raised us?
Guest Albatross_ November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 *sigh* This again. >inb4 people actually take the time to write huge walls of text instead of just telling him/her to lurk for about 5 minutes Go lurk for about 5 minutes.
fennecfoxx November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 An identity crisis can almost certainly be avoided by making sure your tulpa knows early on that he is only based off of a character - not the character himself - and is encouraged to be himself and not conform to your ideals of his character. As for dealing with an identity crisis - unfortunately, there isn't much you can do except remind your tulpa that he should be himself and is not his character; your tulpa will likely need time to get over it. I would ask Link if he wouldn't mind posting his experience with this issue, but it's 11:20 PM in our time zone and he fell asleep awhile ago. Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here: Host: fennec (they/them) Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her) Delete all memories of those who know my awkward past
Guest Anonymous November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 DUDE PICK YOUR FAVORITE STUFF AND MASH IT TOGETHER BUT MAKE IT ORIGINAL SOMEHOW What I did was I took Zone Tan, and made that Helix with a few changes. With Pixel, I imagined what someone from my school would look like if she was white and blonde, and that was that. Honestly, it doesn't matter if you have a form or not. Some people just use the form of a ball of traits to use as their tulpa's form and just develop the personality. Also, if you don't have to have an exact idea of what you want it to be like. In fact, a fully fleshed out idea is bad. Allow room for deviation personality wise. Personal opinion holy shit: I really don't care that Helix was initially based on Zone Tan. I feel that she knows that she can go whichever way she wants without any scrutiny from me. All that BS about "Your putal will have identity issues and have something to live up to" only applies if you put a fucking vice grip on your tulpa's growth, which usually means you disallow deviation and assume hour counts as progress, which, since you're a n3w8, means you're an idiot who is also a fucking retard who didn't read the guides, which I assume because you're asking this question despite there being a topic about it in the guides you inexperienced nice person willing to learn more about tulpas and simply is inexperienced at this whole thing.

PsychedelicDiamond November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 I'll tell you what we tell pretty much everyone here: Do what feels right and everythings gonna be okay. Choose whatever form seems appropriate but give your tulpa enough freedom to develop his or her own personality. Don't worry too much about things like these.
Hush November 4, 2012 November 4, 2012 Unless my case is unusual, you aren't limited to one form either. Hex can now be a bat when she wants(I was going for eagle, I was sleep deprived so my visualization was weird, bat happened, she was happy with it anyway)
