Discord is Disgusting

Warning: this post talks about child abuse.

 

I'm really angry at Discord after watching this video, so I figured the best I could do is tell other people about it. This guy is basically a Discord journalist, and he talks about a bot which aimed to protect children that got banned. While the situation isn't black and white, there's a lot of evidence to suggest Discord isn't interested in protecting children from sexual abuse.

 

I care about this because I practically lived on and still use Discord but I hate child predation so much I went out of my way to try and get a few pedophiles offending on Discord arrested. So the fact Discord is just giving offending pedophiles the green light absolutely infuriates me.

 

Yeah it's probably weird I'm sharing this here, but I'm in the mood to tell pretty much everyone I know.

as soon as I read "angry at Discord after watching this video" I KNEW it would be about Roblox

 

but the sad thing is we knew about Discord-Roblox drama well over a year ago, AWESOME to hear it's still going on! /very s

 

I dunno if it's still the same overall story as before, but what we heard a while ago, there were basically known predator Roblox creators grooming children and when reported to Discord - to take down their Discord server!!! - Discord just said "eh, that's happening on Roblox, not on Discord" and did nothing about it, despite all the evidence

which obviously is allowing the facilitation of more abuse via THEIR platform (and I don't trust for a second that said abuse isn't happening in Discord DMs)

 

we have pretty much every reason to hate Discord, and just a few reasons are their horrid moderation (like being able to be banned for any sentence of the format "I am (number below 13)" in ANY context if it's reported) and their lack thereof (THIS, and in our own experience, a schizo raiding every Touhou server he could find and posting character gore/underage-looking porn that we were unable to report because OBVIOUSLY we deleted it the instant we saw it so others wouldn't have to, but Discord doesn't save deleted messages unless you report first, and even though we and tons of other people reported their less-extremely-ToS gore and NSFW images, their account still exists to this day and we saw them raid another server months later after the initial tons of people reporting him)

Well damn, it's a good thing Marcus didn't spam NSFW gore or he would have never gone away

 

In all seriousness though, that's awful. Discord T&S used to let me send screenshots to them, but now they won't even let you do that anymore.

would you believe that we now occasionally practice the

Report Message -> Abuse or Harassment -> Explicit/Unwanted Sexual Content -> Involving a Minor

process? so that we can actually report (APPARENTLY JUST HIM) anyone that does that again without having to instantly delete the evidence

 

you have to read so much text and click so many buttons to get to that point, it would take genuinely over a minute your first time to figure out, which is why we didn't have time the first time

we also did the "How did your report go?" feedback 9 months ago when this happened but they clearly did not take it

Yeah, discord be absolutely disgusting and I know damn well that they might do some more disgusting stuff. Like also one thing is that in the europe, you're able to have more messaged added but for the us verison, not really. It isn't great at all plus pretty sure condo servers are still pretty much up. So not the greatest with discord, I would leave if I didn't have D&D and friends on it.

Talking about this in PN, I confirmed the condo servers were still advertised on Discord's official server list roughly an hour ago.

 

I'm really only sticking to Discord for PN at this point. I'm going to move all of my private server stuff that's important off of it and have it somewhere else, like in some Google Docs. I won't need Discord anymore if PN packs up and leaves.

 

Gray has other Discord servers he cares about, so that would be the only other thing holding us back from getting off Discord 100%.
