Crafting

1. You have a finished item in some cases this will tell how to make it. The materials can be bought or made. Necessary tools are required.

2. Things are assembled with thread, straps, glue, interlocking the materials etc. Glue isn't uniform and glue can be improved and made to be strong if you spend enough time, again days, weeks, years as part of a backstory or an apprenticeship.

3. Some things required capital equivalent like a leather strecher can be made but a forge generally requires a lot of knowledge and years of use to understand how to reproduce. A blacksmith could easily design his own but wouldn't be a brick layer or know anything about a kiln or what brick materials would even be needed.

4. Research may require scouring libraries or talking to artesians or working as an apprentice or being taught by a master over weeks or months at least.

5. Quality is then a mark of someone who is familiar and has made many. The learning system applies 1d20 to 1d4 over many crafted items but could be learned quickly, over the course of 10-100 items.

First quality is junk ot ruined, the materials going into it are wasted, a natural 1 at any time creates ruined. A natural 20 makes one level of quality up and will forever after make that level the default.

Passing 1d20 the next is very crude

1d12 crude

1d10 comes out normal, fair condition

1d8 comes out good condition

1d6 comes out new condition

1d4 comes out fine.

Inspiration and other modifiers may increase quality.

[omg that's enough, it just keeps going]

all behaviors, whether they come from human or nonhuman animals, follow very similar rules.

Many people don’t know this, but there’s actually a huge amount of dirt inflation on Earth that’s gone unnoticed, but it’s simply because it’s all on the same planet. Fortunately, there’s an easy and effective solution to this that just involves dispersing it elsewhere so its value in the cosmic market isn’t concentrated in just one sector of the Milky Way. Theoretically, this would be the ideal scenario when decentralizing the Earthen dirt industry, but we’d also have to compensate for the possible ramifications implied for our local share of dirt in the cosmic stock market.

By sending animal volunteers to live on the newly-dispersed dirt piles, it could open up the option to label them as subsidiaries, not only providing an ideal workforce/society for every planet, but also making it fall in compliance to a specific cosmic market policy that would leave them as viable fail-safes if Earth’s stock were to plummet (we could just divvy up the monopoly’s assets between them). Further, they would already be able to cater to a specific galactic region of the Milky Way naturally, thanks to the dispersion, so if we really wanted to regroup our assets we could expand out into a franchise, which would therefore allow for the proliferation of local, independently managed floating dirt piles all under Earth (as the parent planet). It’s like having McDonalds on the side of every intergalactic highway.

*Note: this is all in compliance with cosmic law. Any similarities or differences between it and Earth’s own proprietary economical system are currently invalid/incapable of being interpreted (due to the unfortunate inability for space aliens to convert customary societies into metric societies) and thus any possible crossover is deemed a coincidence until some alien can figure it out.*
