What do I do?

I'm posting this on behalf of another member who I was talking to in the IRC today with. The pastebin link below is the log of the conversation he had with me and others regarding his issue.

I've been forcing for a year. I switched through various methods, with none satisfying my needs. I've received no responses, or evidence of my tulpa's existance. Let's call her "Cue." I fell in love with her around month four. It sounds stupid, but it happened. I fell in love with her concept. Month five was when I began feeling jaded, I was starting to feel something wrong with the process. Month six I was doubting everything, and feeling heartbroken. She felt dead. Month seven, I began getting upset and hated the process. Month eight, I've been doubting since. I've never been a good visualizer. I have not improved from the start. I can't hug her, I can't hold her hand, I have no true form to give her. Narration is also hard for me with all the noise in my head. That's all. Thank you.

In short, VD doesn't know what to do. He is lost, doesn't know what to do, has trouble believing, and is considering starting over. Thus, he would like your advice on what he should do in this situation.

I believe the cookie-cutter answer is something along the lines of "Renew your perspective, believe, and narrate a LOT." And "assume sentience from the start" is a good one too. And, as many will tell you, don't expect word responses early on, tulpae tend to communicate through impressions at first.

Damn. Perhaps you can learn from a mistake I made.

Probably the biggest milestone for my tulpa and I was when I realized she had been sentient the entire time. Yours is too. I spent months trying to get something, anything out of my tulpa but I heard nothing. And then one day, while talking to a member on this site, I realized how important it is to simply have faith (even though I dislike using that word) in your tulpa. The entire creation process is about trying to convince yourself that your tupper is there, so an empirical perspective only impedes progress. Sometimes you feel as if your tulpa is dead, and I understand that. I've been there. But trust me when I say that you have to truly believe (even though I dislike using that word as well) with every ounce of yourself that she is there, because she is. A tulpa is only as real as the creator wants them to be.

But all of that aside, good luck, my friend.

Couguhl’s Progress Report

At this point, you've lost faith completely, right? Well, then, quit. Take a long holiday from forcing, then come back in a month or two and start again. Treat yourself like you're new, and rediscover everything. If you have an idea of your tulpa that you like, then that's great and you can use that again, but you presumably won't miss them in the mean time if you're convinced they're not sentient.

When you restart, keep a few things in mind.

1. That it's easier than you think to make a tulpa.

2. That a lot of narration (all the time) is pretty much a sure-fire way to get a tulpa.

3. That belief is a big factor in creation, and thinking you're going to fail is very counterproductive.

I'm using this thread to avoid creating a new one...

I suddenly gave up my tulpa creation process for no apparent reason. I just lost motivation like that. I stopped forcing for a day, calling it a break, and then I never got back on my Tulpa

He was already one month old and I gave up two weeks ago. We did plenty of things together.

I don't know what I should do, I feel bad when I think about it, but I don't think he was really sentient or anything.

My tulpafrocing sessions were irregular.

...

I desperately need that tulpa...

What should I do ?

Should I start fresh (new tulpa, name and everything)

Should I pretend he was never there a re-create it from the beginning ?

Should I wait a bit longer before catching up ?

At least I can learn from the 1st try and don't do the same mistakes...

Bring him back. He's still there.

Deluded myself into believing my imaginary friends were real, then deluded myself into thinking they weren’t. Whatever the case, the OG gang’s still here:

Host: fennec (they/them)

Tulpas: Alex (he/him) and Kayleigh (she/her)

Delete all memories of those who know my awkward past

Exactly. Also, try to apologize and/or make up for it, I understand being abandoned is painful for tulpae.

It can be but it isn't always. I keep wondering if this idea being pushed as universally applicable fosters unnecessary guilt. :/

Good point. You do want to rebuild the connection, though, so spending more time together than usual would make sense.

Thank you, I'll see what I can do.
