The idea bounced into my head of creating a duplicate of one's self. Is there any history on these forums of someone trying something of this nature?

So have a Tulpa that is you; both in form and personality.

Mmm, creepypasta tiem.

Haven't heard of it actually, apart from a guy on /mlp/ who wanted to fuck a duplica of himself. I don't think it's very good to create a tupper that's identical to yourself, since they are themselves and not somebody else. If you and/or the tulpa expects him to be just like you, anything different will result will probably end in (severe) identity issues. And if you and/or the tulpa accepts that he isn't you, and never will be, he probably will be himself and become more like him (form and personality) than you.

That's what I think anyway, I could be wrong, since this isn't well tried out.

Yes. I did it all the time even before tulpas.

Tasty tasty me.

Double the pleasure.

Check out Kaiba if you are into that sort of stuff. Good anime.

Why is it discouraged?

You just said that you can think of nothing bad that would come out of it.

Can anyone think of any reason supported by logic or something that passes for it why it could be bad?

Some guides and other members here may discourage it.

Personally, The main fault I can find with it would be that it would be pointless.

If you really want to, there's no harm trying* - but you'll most likely fail, so why bother.

*Depends on your personality and mental state/health.

I don't guarantee that anyone can get away unharmed (mentally, that is).

But you should at least not turn out like the creepypasta

Basic logic dictates the following:

If your tulpa thinks exactly the same way that you do, then it is in effect, unnecessary.

It would be pretty useless if it can't give you a second opinion on something.

It would surely also be impossible to be aware of it's existence as any thoughts from your tulpa are essentially your own as well.

How on earth would you create a tulpa if you can't tell the difference between your own thoughts and your tulpa's? You'd be unable to divide your brain into another sentient consciousness.

So it may not even be possible. And if it is, the tulpa will differ, even if just slightly. (In effect, not an exact copy - therefore impossible anyway)

1. If your tulpa thinks exactly the same way that you do, then it is in effect, unnecessary. Hallucinating your voice narrating what your ideas make them sound a little like they come from outside yourself, could make you go, "Wait a second, that idea is shit after all." Like with an audio journal.

2. See 1.

3. Same as with any tulpa. Count the thoughts that come from it as it and not you. Feel it out.

4. See 3.

5. Challenge accepted.

5. Continued: I imagined it. We are exactly the same. Great success.

Mayor says "Show's what you know! Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world" -Einstein

There you have it. That's one for delusion, one for logic.

Yeah, I don't intend to try this. Sort of sounds like a waste of resources for something of this nature. Just wondered as when it popped into my mind; the thought of seeing a duplicate of myself would be weird. That would have to be the easiest visualization/imposition though. Look in a mirror and you are pretty much set to know what to impose 100%. XD

Well, there's no reason you can't clone your form, but make a slightly different personality.

Just beware of expectations. Don't expect it to be exactly like you because it looks like you.

Also, the Tulpa may want to make changes to his/her form in the end anyway.

I still maintain what I originally said: Making an exact copy defeats the purpose of making a tulpa in the first place.

So... Don't clone yourself, but feel free to make a different version of yourself if you so wish. But no guarantees it will turn out how you expect it to.

But don't do it because you're lazy to visualise, do it if you want it to be like your twin.
