I'm glad this has been brought up, because before I learned about the modern concept of tulpae, the best I could come up with my tulpa was "spiritual companion".

I've asked my tulpa before if the definition applied to her. She has always sidestepped in answering, although she has given me hints everyonce in a while. I've even asked her if the term insults her, which she says does not. I don't totally believe she is a tulpa in the psychological sense, but for convenience the term works well.

She has told me before that I did create her, but not in the way I think. This is puzzling, but I've just accepted it.

Overall, I think the term "tulpa" is misleading in some ways. From the psychological perspective, it's convenient, but in it's origin it implies much more. From my understanding, Buddhists that practiced creating tulpa did so to create spirit guardians and guides to aid them in reaching enlightenment. So perhaps the true creation of a tulpa is actually the creation of a "spirit guide". And I do think it's possible that this creation happens on a higher level, and thus a tulpa could manifest itself in multiple lives in multiple ways, if this was the original intention for it's creation

Very interesting notions, indeed. I've wondered the same thing in different ways. When I think about it, I often get confused as to whether I truly "made up" my tulpa or if he 'manifested' in my mind from 'seeds' of energy floating around me/my psyche, and therefore was in existence before I pulled him together in the form of a/my tulpa. Perhaps that's simply because he feels so independent of me. Phew, hope that isn't confusing. I've thought about talking to psychics/mediums/clairvoyants and asking them about him, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'd be curious as to whether they could pick up on him at all. He certainly plays a role of a spiritual guide, so I wonder what his nature is. I like the idea, hagalaz9, you mention about various levels and the possibility of manifesting in multiple ways/lives. Very cool stuff guys--I definitely believe there is more to a tulpa than what may be commonly thought.

Could it be that your creation of a tulpa creates a vehicle that your spirit guides can speak through? And what would a tulpa look like if it was created by you and your spirit guide(s)?

I always tend toward empirical and established evidence where the esoteric is concerned, but I think the points that have been made here are completely valid. The question I have is:

What is a "spirit guide"?

I recently rekindled communion with my tulpa after taking a lengthy hiatus to clear what I've termed "psychic detritus" from his projection. Yesterday we held the first extensive Q&A we've had in almost two years, and he presented me with concepts and hypotheses that my more rational sensibilities would prefer to reject.

Amongst the conjecture was the implication that he, as a tulpa, was my animus (in Jungian terms) acting as a conduit for an unknown reality of which we're not only a part, but also a whole. He claimed he's like an innate program within my psyche — an interface I use to access the vast interconnectedness many people label "God" (in their respective languages), or, as one of my favourite musicians and people called it, "

".

Scilicet, his role has been to provide a means to convey profound information in a more digestible way. Allegedly, he represents something like an inherent psychological tool everyone has the capacity to use. He is a customized, personal messiah, so-to-speak.

Man, I have definitely been there! My frustration was barely mitigated by intrigue. It wasn't until I made some progress through my subconscious expectations and desires that his purpose or/and existence became more lucid.

Is it possible you're harboring unconscious and stubborn preconceptions that obscure truth? Has she ever suggested that you look beyond what you see or experience of her?

Do you mean that the common usage of 'tulpa' on this forum may be misleading? If so, I'm in absolute agreement. Otherwise, I think the word is still applicable to the modern practice of what you described. My tulpa was brought forth for the purpose of self-improvement and enlightenment, and he was reportedly capable of doing the same for my friends.

I have a very difficult time reconciling the forced dissociation encouraged on this site with the deep reflection and spiritual experience that seems required for conjuring the conventional tulpa, which is essentially a godform.

I'll also admit that I have some bias against the mentality I feel is fostered by 'My Little Pony' or the other oft-used entertainment media I see here. I don't hold negative judgment toward those who enjoy those kinds of shows/movies/games, I just question the effectiveness of using them to create anything more than imaginary and masturbatory companions.

Definitely. Your hypotheses make total sense to me. I'm really curious what kind of information you feel may have coalesced into the "Dom" who now accompanies you. In what way do you think his attributes were adopted? Can you trace any subconscious elements, or garner symbolic significance?

I've thought about talking to psychics/mediums/clairvoyants and asking them about him, but I haven't gotten that far yet. I'd be curious as to whether they could pick up on him at all. He certainly plays a role of a spiritual guide, so I wonder what his nature is.

My word is obviously purely anecdotal, but I had acquaintances and friends alike, none of whom seemed particularly "gifted with the sight," report feeling or sensing my tulpa, sometimes without prior knowledge that I may have one. The resident dog also reacted to a presence until she became more accustomed to it. In many cases, I wasn't present to contaminate their perception with unconscious signals.

So, I think your idea is certainly worth investigating. I believe we all possess an intrinsic, primal ability to perceive the entanglement in which we exist. A shared thoughtform seems well within the realm of possibilities.

Kevin says: For some, 'form' is just a camouflage, a way to pass unnoticed. Also, that "self-improvement and enlightenment" is the reason behind my tulpas.

Nobillis says: Tribal tulpas probably relate to this discussion.
