What is the general average time it takes to form a tulpa completely?

Depends on how much you force.

And how sane you are at the start.

 

Still it's a very personal process, you can be done in a month (except probably imposition and switching) or you can need 6 months to even get first signs of sentience.

"Completely" is also a bit loose as a term, for example the imposed form is going to get more and more realistic over many months, but you might say they're done when the hallucination is just ok.

 

Anyway, I would say no less than 3 months if you are a quick one.

Oh yeah I know the process varies greatly from person to person. I'm just curious what the most common time-frame is to form a tulpa to the point of imposition where you don't have to constantly focus on them.

That's not imposition, but thought autonomy (also called "thought independence" or "parallel processing"). Imposition usually helps thought autonomy greatly, but you can achieve it before.

 

As for average times, I doubt any single person can answer that reliably. If there was a survey where hosts were asked how long it took for them and their tulpa(s) to develop certain skills (sentience, thought autonomy, possession, imposition, etc.), that would be pretty interesting.

You get what you put into it. I've been at it for two months and Caleb can communicate on a simple level. I did waste lots of time and did not force for a while. To get a fully operational tulpa you can't just think of this as just something cool to do sometimes. It's a full time hobby.

This would be far too random of an average to calculate. Not to mention my 8 month experience is probably going to throw it off by a long shot.

Even if we move past the "it varies too much" thing, we can't give you an average because too many people are so lazy that they never work for it and so they'll never get a tulpa unless a miracle happens. They skew the average.

 

My opinion though is that you should look at where you are instead of how long it took to get you there. You'll only frustrate yourself if you keep a record of how long it takes you to do something.

I've been working for over a year on them, and only now I'm starting to get near where other people claim to have gotten after a month or so (proper mindvoice, the like).
