Kaz with a K August 21, 2013 August 21, 2013 Right! Even better of an idea! Yeah, kinda like in those infomercials where they get the people to be like "I bought [Tulpas] and I love it!" Like give a bunch of stories from different PRs for each part, with different aspects/ideas so the reader could get a large spectrum? Tulpa: Adryan Form: Anthro wolf-ish Stage: *sighs loudly* Age: Looks 17, is actually 1 1/2 “Human beings can always be relied on to assert, with vigor, their god-given right to be stupid” -Dean Koontz “In the end, I worry that my arrogance shall destroy us all” -Brandon Sanderson
Linkzelda August 21, 2013 Author August 21, 2013 That's going to foster the idea that you can get a tulpa with 6 easy payments of $19.95. That's going back to square one with existential issues. Progress Reports don't really matter, they're just experiential truths and barely convincing anecdotal evidence for scientific grounds. It's more of aiming for people gathering their own means and methods of experiencing this without it being a blog. Because here's the thing, although this PR idea sounds reasonable, it will just lead towards an argumentum ad populum where it's just going to say that this host has a decent bond with their tulpa, "therefore" it must be practical. People will jump the bandwagon without paying attention to who's driving. And after people wise up a bit with that thinking and see the PR idea is only catering to one spectrum (host and their tulpae), they want to know how they're going to incorporate that with human beings like themselves. To the point where they can develop some assurance that they won't be a heartbeat away from going to the psych ward, asylum, therapy, or a person who is just being misunderstood because of how people skew and twist how we all theorize the tulpa experience. Which is why the community needs some kind of philosophical set of ideals, concepts, theories, etc. that can be applied to people in general. But of course, there's no such thing as a perfect set of standards to go by, because there's already a cluster of beliefs in this world that not everyone would be willing to be content with what one tulpamancer does with their tulpa(e), whether it's gaining more intelligence or better understanding of the world, it's still not going be useful enough for a more expansive recognition. It gets to the point where it becomes an existential matter, to where your own beliefs, ideas, concepts, they are only one of many ways to interact with the reality you're in. If people see it more of an existential approach, that gives them an opportunity to pick and choose and connect the dots so that the existential concepts fits their model of reality more. That gives them the chance to be persuaded to make their own decisions and not take what a person believes as their only means of reference. Sure, we all need to do some pooling with other people's beliefs and make some communal intellectual totality into this, but when it comes back to an individual level, the person has to make the choice and the belief to actually go through having tulpa(e), and being aware of as many topics/concepts/beliefs as they can, but not necessarily living up to all of those concepts of course.
