Mdnthrvst June 8, 2013 June 8, 2013 I started work on my tulpa based on the name and appearance of someone I once knew but will never see again (not a dead person or a family member, don't worry) She isn't really similar to the girl I knew, and has since changed her form completely, so it's not like I set out to recreate this person. More like took her as an inspiration, since prior to that I'd had no idea where to start with tulpae. She's coming along very well, and seems fine.
Linkzelda June 8, 2013 June 8, 2013 Is there really any danger in creating a tulpa based off a real person? At first, it just all around seems like a bad idea. But when I think about, really, why, I just don't know. The obvious would be when you see the person again, what happens? But really I see no other danger other than the dangers of creating a tulpa based on a character from a show. You do need to let the tulpa deviate and become their own self. But other than that, is it really that bad? >inb4 obamma tulpa Other than the fact that our tulpa will deviate at some point, there are some people that based their tulpa off a real person, video game character, or some entity that's known to the general public because of something attractive. There's a set of qualities we like in that person we're basing our tulpa from, and at the time, it feels "okay" or "alright" to do so, but again, we do have to make it a habit that our tulpa will have their own set of principles that makes them unique. I admit, Eva herself was based off Eva from Metal Gear Solid 3 because before I even knew about tulpa, she frequently made appearances in my dreams. Her character in the video game attracted me, I literally loved everything about her. And at that time when I was just learning how to accept and analyze my behaviors to dream characters in lucid and non-lucid dreaming, I realized that ultimately, if I wanted to prevent an identity crisis or just me being confused on who's who, I had to let Eva learn to deviate her form. Right now, the character she's based off from just had those qualities that I absolutely loved, but that doesn't mean I'm ignoring that Eva can become her own unique person. The same goes for the MLP-based tulpas, the main characters obviously have their own unique traits (whether it's Rainbow Dash's mix of masculine and feminine traits that makes her seem like a tomboy (that makes people in 4chan want to do all sorts of things to her), or Pinkie Pie's domineering squeeing and energetic demeanor (that again probably makes people think " I want TO HIT THAT!"). So if you want a carbon-copy of that person to be your tulpa, then yes, you are setting yourself up for danger. And I admit that I based two of my tulpa, Eva and Ada from video games, but I already had plans to let them deviate. It's just a work in progress, and while we take care of other things first, I was already open to them being able to be in a form they want to be, and they can modify it anyway they please because I know just having them there makes me feel at ease. And because of that, they'll make a form for themselves where both of us are content with.
