Guest Riy November 5, 2013 November 5, 2013 I wouldn't be concerned. I mean it's probably a form of symbolism your mind has come up with. Do you feel scarred or burned in anyway? This could be a symbolic way to show that because our tulpas really are parts of ourselves. They are a separate and eventually sentient mind with in our own, but we can't deny the fact that they are still parts of us. When I first started to hone my sessions, and with some luck, I had the experience which I outlined in my progress report. I do find it very curious though that it's growing like it's been partially burnt. It appears fine otherwise. The bark is now stronger than my fingers can chip at them, it has offshoots and vines which it's been moving and waving, it has far more leaves than just the single leaf it originally had. For lack of better term...it's blossoming. Now, I understand that this is just the mental-visual image I see, and I'm aware that it can change, after all it seems able to manifest more soil, and seems to 'know' when I'm with it. I'm not unhappy about it, it reminds me a lot of pictures of trees you see after they've been struck by lightning yet still survive, or thrive in this case. It's really extraordinary, I'd be lying if I said I'm not excited to see what happens next.
Ashmo November 5, 2013 November 5, 2013 That's the cool thing about letting your subconscious dictate the out come of your tulpa's form. The initial surprise, and sometimes shock of what it begins as, and then the constant surprise of what it does as it develops because it's doing everything on it's own instead of you guiding it. You're also more likely to end up with the tulpa that you need instead of the tulpa that you want. I know that's how it went for me ^^

I wouldn't say I feel scarred or burnt, then again I may have "weathered" more than what the average person would. It's trunk has grown twisted (I explain a bit more in my progress report) but the thing is strong as hell AND healthy so visually I'm not too concerned about it. The things vines can damn near pick me up now! My next concern though is that I'm running out of narrative material. I've told it my life's story and my hopes, dreams, desires. I have no idea if it's grown because of my narrative, or my excitement, or what. But what's a good next step for me?
Ashmo November 6, 2013 November 6, 2013 Narrate everything. Talk to them when you are doing something. Tell them why you do it, how it makes you feel, why you like or dislike it. I always use doing the dishes as an example because, I do the dishes most of the time in my household, and I like doing them. I explain to Bud how doing them helps the family and how I'm doing my part and all sorts of things like that. Or if you like to go for walks or work out. Narrate EVERYTHING. You could also start reading to them. I'm reading the Harry Potter series to Bud and he loves it.

It's size and dimensions are not easily projected into the real world. Do you have any suggestions as to get around this? I live alone so I can easily follow through with talking or reading out loud, but I get a snag when I try to think how I can have a tree in my room! Cheers! I look forward to suggestions!

Ashmo November 6, 2013 November 6, 2013 You can simply talk to it. You don't have to go through the process of reaching a meditative point to interact with it. It's in your head. So basically anything goes. Have you tried "inviting" it to the front of your mind? This is a form of symbolism, of course, but you basically imagine your tulpa is with you and able to perceive everything you are. Then simply talk to it. Narrate like I explained, have a conversation, read to it, anything. Giving it attention this way is also considered passive forcing. It sounds like everything you've been doing is active forcing, and that's great! Don't get me wrong, but you can force in much greater quantities when you passive force. You don't need to give up the active forcing, just add passive forcing to your day.

I'll start doing this right away, thank you for the nod towards this!
