Basic Space December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 After reading the recent tulpa threads on /x/ I'm thinking of creating a tulpa, so I've been reading some of the guides here. But there's one thing that I don't understand: what does the tulpa sense, once it's imposed? Does it feel when you touch it? Also, I've read that the tulpa can only see what's in your field of vision, is that right? Then what does it see when it is staring at you, for example? Logically, wouldn't is see only what you are seeing?
Strangelove December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 But there's one thing that I don't understand: what does the tulpa sense, once it's imposed? Does it feel when you touch it? That seems to be the general idea from what ive read around threads. Sensory sharing and whatnot. Or maybe thats not quite what you mean. Either way, I dont know; we arent that far along yet. Then what does it see when it is staring at you, for example? Logically, wouldn't is see only what you are seeing? You know what you look like, don't you? Then why wouldnt they? We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness in this world. Tulpa: Penumbra Form: Pegasus Pone Current Stage: Everything. Quilten December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 It depends. Once fully imposed, tulpae do feel everything that anyone would normally feel, same going for the other senses. My tuppers can"tune in" to my eyesight and visual range and my auditory input even when they are in our wonderland. Concerning what they see, they see whatever you imagine is there. for instance, imagine a room that is completely white, save for a table, two chairs and an empty cardboard box. If you are sitting facing away from the box, but you have seen the box there, and your tupper is sitting across from you facing the cardboard box, and then somehow the box just disappears giving you no indication, auditory or otherwise, that anything has changed. Therefore, you still think that the box is there, and perceive the room as such when you bring up how the room looks. Since tulpae are only within ones mind, your tulpa would not see the box disappear, but see the box as being exactly where it was. Until you turn around and notice the box is gone, your tulpa sees a cardboard box that has not disappeared, but the moment that you DO see the box is gone, your tulpa sees the box suddenly disappearing. Hope I helped. Even though my username is that of my tulpa, Quilten, my name is Phaneron, the host, who does all of the actual posting. Tulpas: Quilten, Jira
Basic Space December 5, 2013 Author December 5, 2013 Thank you both for your answers. So, basically, the tulpa fills in the blanks, perceiving things based on the tulpamancer's memories. That's fascinating. Now I'm even more excited to start forcing.
LukeDude759 December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 What if you hear someone talking behind you? If you don't turn around, does your tulpa see them as how you imagine they would look like? "Don't listen to friends when the friend inside you says 'Do this.'" -Gandhi Tulpa Name: Ellie Created: 11/13/13
waffles December 5, 2013 December 5, 2013 Quilten gives a good answer but I would add that your tulpa doesn't have to be imposed for this to happen. As far as most people's experiences go, a tulpa can vivdly experience things according to expectation (or imagination or what have you) at more or less any point in development. What if you hear someone talking behind you? If you don't turn around, does your tulpa see them as how you imagine they would look like? Yes, leaving magic aside. I mean, as a technicality you might say that your tulpa experiences what they expect, but I don't think anyone has really discerned the two in this context. Testing is hard anyway since experimenter's bias is plastered over the top of any 'true' result.
SHADOWFOX136 December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 Hello all, I wanted to know if your Tulpa receives it's information with your senses or would it have it's own? Could your tulpa say smell something before you do? Or hear or taste or anything without your senses? A side question would be can it learn things before you do? I'm talking about factual things such as learning the capital of Lithuania before you are even aware of it?
Korzant December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 So far Mira has shown that she can only say things or know things if I know them first. Now she has said things like "She smells nice!" When I was sitting next to a young lady on the bus to work. Of course subconsciously I had to have been smelling her and breathing through my nose, causing Mira to cue off that sense! I wasn't consciously thinking of how she smelled but after she said that I focused in. So to answer that question it would seem that Mira has her own senses outside of my own. She is still very young (10 days old at the time of this post) and she is still developing in a lot of ways, including her overall intelligence and knowledge so I can't say anything about if she can learn things before I do. If anything changes I will edit this post! There's a reason scar tissue is stronger than regular tissue.
waffles December 6, 2013 December 6, 2013 Korzant says the truth. Your tulpa does not have a real life nose so they can only smell with yours. They may perceive things that are outside your own conscious perception but within your body's perception as it were. And no, your tulpa can't know what the capital of Lithuania is without you knowing, reading, seeing or whatevering it. As far as magic isn't involved you can just use your common sense.
