Guest June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 >Obtuse, confusing, custom scripting languageActually, the scripting language is rather easy to learn for the new. I have GM to thank for introducing me to the field of programming.
Bin June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 GML was my first language too. It's a mess and a stupid as hell idea to not use something people already know. And the best part is you can't do what you think you want to do. It makes it look a simple as just writing a little bit of code to make your character walk, but no, you have to do a lot or else the physics will screw up horrifically. And that last part doesn't even make sense. So you're fine with making a game and have it not work later? no
Guest June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 Wait, crap. I misread. I thought you said "compatible". My eyes are playing around with me today. Sorry. Let me just edit my post in shame. Still, I agree on the Windows-only etc. points, of course.
Bin June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 Yeah, there are way better tools for making games easy other than Game Maker. None of them have a pretty interface but they're cross platform and use a language that already exists. For one there's Until-It-Dies. no
Bin June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 I don't see anything redeeming about that. If I wanted to use OOP for game development I'd use CLOS considering it's far more advanced than C++'s object system. Except functional programming is far less convoluted anyway and Lispers never even use CLOS. Did you hear that? We have technology so far advanced from your puny ape civilization that even our garbage is a technological achievement to you. C++ doesn't even have automated garbage collection. Even D has that. That's just sad. Actually fede D is a pretty good language I honestly think you should check it out, I think you would like it. no

ShyGuy65 June 24, 2012 June 24, 2012 this. A fully-featured operating system that is recognized as a contender for the big three. So, never. *phew*
