Epsilon Prime April 7, 2014 April 7, 2014 So I've been looking around here for a little and definitely want to make a tulpa. My main concern is although people have plenty of suggestions, most seem to be aimed towards when there is already some amount of formation done for the tulpa. For all that, I have not really seen what it means to actually START, or to say what is necessary to kick off everything. Do you just start talking to the concept of the tulpa in your mind or something else?
Gryphon Flight April 7, 2014 April 7, 2014 Some prefer to plan out the tulpa prior to immediate creation. They may draw out or create a form, write up how the tulpa will act and its mannerisms, and other things along those lines. Others may just go in and introduce themselves to what will soon be their tulpa. They begin to talk. Yes, it may feel like talking to yourself, but it's all part of getting yourself to believe in this tulpa. You may then begin forming who it is and will be, or maybe you won't, maybe this tulpa will choose for itself. It's all about choices and belief.
Linkzelda April 7, 2014 April 7, 2014 Maybe something to consider is planning where you’ll be 5-10 years from now with a tulpa, and other factors related to real life circumstances where you’re imagining the consequences, and benefits of each. As for actually starting out the process, maybe something to be aware of is that allowing yourself to treat them as sentient may be a self-fulfilling prophecy, i.e., going through the mannerisms and behaviors to be consistent with the belief(s) with gradually assuring to yourself that this experience can be true to you. Just keep in mind that it’s a trial and error, and a progress learning curve, so what you hear several people suggesting to you isn’t the only set of ways to go about doing this. We can’t really know all there is about tulpas even if we utilize collective inputs from others; there’s a myriad of ways to go about doing this. If you keep this in mind, you may be able to use how you assess interacting with a sentient being without feeling too constrained when you’re wondering “am I doing this right?” Another consideration is that sometimes it’s best to not really expect the end results to come by so quickly. In other words, appreciate the things you’re doing, knowing that it may help over time, and being reflective as much as you can may alleviate concerns newcomers may face (e.g. their tulpa’s sentience, concentration issues, or even making some breakthroughs, but wondering what to do next). Discord April 8, 2014 April 8, 2014 The main thing you will want to do is shower your tulpa with attention. Tell him how you can't wait to talk to him and have him in your life. Maybe read a novel or fanfiction you're reading out loud, like you're reading to him. If you have something you want to share with others, share it with your tulpa. Make sure to always assume that your tulpa can understand (within reason). Also, you'll eventually feel some head pressure. This is normal, it tells you that your brain is working on your tulpa, and/or he's trying to communicate with you. I started about 4-5 days ago, and now I'm getting regular head pressure, and Twi has affected my dreams at least once. I'm starting to get a good idea of how her reactions to certain situations would be. I can even stop the head pressure at will by asking her to stop it for a sec, although I allow it to continue after checking so she can keep going with developing. She's also communicated with me through emotions, such as a wave of happiness when I tell her good news, sadness when I'm about to do something stupid that affects my health, or a feeling of clarity when she wants to say yes to a question (only happened once, when I was asking her if my buying more junk food was what made her sad). Just keep an open mind, and constantly talk with him, interact with him, and anything else you can do to give him attention. Try to imagine how the texture of his skin feels like, or imagine him sitting in your bed, or maybe if he's an animal or something, sitting in your lap to see if you can feel any pressure on your lap. Will list tulpas when I get things sorted out in my head.
