Luminesce July 16, 2015 July 16, 2015 I'm all for rewiring your mind with willpower and do it all the time, but - I don't agree at all that he shouldn't use a servitor for this. And I'm really tired of the "It might grow into a tulpa!" crap. This is all symbolism and you guys are creating artificial fears and functions. This is ENTIRELY subjective, there are no rules or even "possible deviations" with this stuff other than the ones you make. If a thoughtform deviates it's either because you allowed them to, consciously or not, or you weren't paying enough attention and let imagination fill in the gaps. A servitor is effectively symbolism, and symbolism is incredibly useful when working with the mind. It's true that a servitor is a bit further out-of-the-way than is entirely necessary, but there's no reason to go minimalist for the intended purpose here. And it's already been said, but true addictions are a lot more than "trivial". I'm not entirely sure what would be not trivial in that case. But my point is, there's nothing wrong with what he's doing, and I actually appreciate how he's going about it. So I won't sit here and watch you guys dissuade him because you've personally experienced biased results doing the same. I really believe things will go just fine for Priest based on how he's going about this, his intentions, and his planning. The only way things would "go wrong" is if he got careless and started letting his imagination (or fears!) take priority over his conscious intent, and like I said I don't believe he'll do that. The fact that he wrote in code-speak and the overall mindset his posts imply tells me he's probably a very logic-minded person and less subject to the imagination-deviations of more creativity-minded people. That's the benefit that counters creative persons' ease of creating tulpas - strictness and orderliness. Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn. Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature. My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.
FallFamily July 16, 2015 July 16, 2015 [Tri] To add on to what Reisen said, most servitors don't become tulpas. None of the ones that Hail made did. The one servitor she was referencing - it caused all of that damage because it stayed a servitor and thus didn't have the sentience to stop operating. If it had become a tulpa, there would have been no problems because they would have known when to stop their task.
