If you have encountered autonomous thoughtforms, did you consider them sentient? Did they show signs of self awareness? How did you react to the situation? Did you treat them as if they were sentient despite not seeing signs of self awareness?

If you haven't encountered any autonomous thoughtforms, aside from your tulpa(s), have you encountered thoughtforms in the wonderland that weren't explicitly created by you, autonomous or not? How did you react to the situation?

Keep unnecessary details to a minimum, I'm more interested in the bare-bones experience, and specifically about the appearance of sentience in whoever you encountered. Reoccurring experiences are welcome, as long as you didn't do anything to maintain the thoughtform subsequently.

We're all gonna make it brah.

I have encountered autonomous thoughtforms that seemed pretty fuckin' sentient.

My tulpa proclaimed herself queen of my head, so she did a lot of things to those tulpas. Some of them were pretty easy to kill off, just by will, others were persistent for days and made her feel bad psychologically so she went on and tortured them for days. She asked for advice as to 'how to kill a tulpa'. Torture is the best way, and the pain that those autonomous thoughtforms had was something great for her.

Ultimately, the thoughtforms had effects on her, changed her personality, traits, mentality, and outlook on people.

The thoughtforms did prove some self-awareness, they adapted forms I would never really come up with, and really came out of the blue at random moments. One was Dr. House (Hugh Laurie), the other was a knight in an armor covered with skulls with blue energy and whatnot, yadda, I'll spare you the details, just that I found it kind of... impressive they could come up with that.

How I personally reacted to it? I told them they were not welcome, that this wasteland only fits two entities, and invited them to become a part of me. Some of them accepted, some of them refused, the ones that refused were taken away by my tulpa. I never got to see her torture them, but that's what she told me in very specific details.

Melian is the only living character or autonomous thoughtform I have ever experienced. She is far and away more like a sentient person than anything else I have ever imagined or visualized. I actually admire and envy people who have more than one autonomous thoughtform.

My friend told me once she had been visited by a Reisen tulpa similar to, but claiming to be different from, mine. The not-my-Reisen tulpa said she was "just visiting, helping maybe" and left within a few days I think. Does that count?

She did know my Reisen at the time pretty well, if that matters. Seemed her mind made up a temporary Reisen of its own.

Hi! I'm Lumi, host of Reisen, Tewi, Flandre and Lucilyn.

Everyone deserves to love and be loved. It's human nature.

My tulpas and I have a Q&A thread, which was the first (and largest) of its kind. Feel free to ask us about tulpamancy stuff there.

Yeah, that definitely counts. I'm interested in thoughtforms who specifically claim to be just visiting or temporarily around. Did Reisen #2 ever make a return?

No, but she doesn't really spend much time with her tulpas anyway. That was a relatively active time. She was pretty insistent there was no relation to my Reisen, meaning anything metaphysical, though she seemed ~helpful like mine. I'm pretty sure she appeared by a beach or something similar in her wonderland, stayed in that area, and then just wasn't there a couple days later. No more information, sorry.

I don't really know what to tick in your list, especially as I can only choose one option.

My mind frequently generates "characters" that I can interact with. It does this most often when I am writing, but it has happened at other times too. They are never really as well developed and independent as Maya and Mara, and tend to be temporary.

Are they autonomous in that I do not need to consiously create or maintain them? Yes.

Are they sentient? No idea. They respond according to their character when interacted with, that is all that I can say on that score.

As for the way I treated them; I treat everyone as sentient, whether they show a particular set of "sentience" traits or not, just in case. It is, after all, only polite.

Oh, I should fix that. Thanks bro.

How would you say you come across these characters? Do they just pop in your head? Is there any kind of discovery process?

You say they're temporary, have you ever had anyone appear (apparently) of their own accord at a later time?

Also, yeah, I think being condescending about something that you can't prove (sentience) is pretty lame, just being polite and treating everyone as sentient is the way to go.

It depends on the character. I have been sitting at a table, typing using a laptop and raised my eyes to see the character that I was writing about leaning back in the chair opposite, commenting on my description of them. I have been walking in the street, and a character strolled around a corner ahead of me, and was "discovered" that way. I have been writing and "heard" the front door open and close, and a character has then walked into the room, having just "arrived". The characters often develop after they are discovered, they are not necessarily fully formed and complete as soon as I am aware of them, especially if I am in the process of writing them, although I do tend to have the feeling that I am "discovering" rather than "creating" the characters somewhat, as I define them.

Some of the characters do appear fully formed out of the blue, and are unrelated to any writing that I am doing at the time.

You say they're temporary, have you ever had anyone appear (apparently) of their own accord at a later time?

Yes, several of the characters have showed up at a later time when I have, as far as I know, been thinking about something else. I wrote this creepypasta a while ago and amusingly, while staying with my parents have seen you-know-who standing on the stairs when I have used the bathroom in the night. I find it interesting that the house in the story was not modelled on my parent's house, and the description (such as it is) in the story is in fact quite different to their house. Nevertheless, the entity has been known to make an appearance there :) .

Other characters have made an appearance at various times, after an extended absence. I suppose that while I have a memory of a character, there is a chance that they they will return. Maybe even when they are not around, they are all stored in my mind somewhere, waiting for a trigger of some sort to bring them back into my awareness. Sometimes it could be that I am thinking of the work that involved them, perhaps considering doing some more work with them, sometimes it just seems to be random. They are never (so far) as "there" as Maya and Mara, there definitely seems to be a difference in the way my mind processes them, compared to my tulpas. Perhaps it is just that it is more practiced at dealing with Maya and Mara, as opposed to more "temporary" characters.

By the way, your Fight Club avatar kind of rocks.

These autonomous thought forms that appear in my wonderland are one of the reasons why I have so many tulpas in the first place (10). At this point though, any seemingly sentient being I find in my wonderland I greet and acknowledge, but I don't think of them as tulpas, but as dream folks, people you would find in a dream. This is because I've had many dreams where I would actually interact with people that seemed very intelligent. I've even felt what was true love in one of these dreams for one of them, haha. Anyway, in my wonderland at the moment, there is actually a large village near my house full of these thought forms. Whether they're sentient or not though, I have no idea.

I have 10 tulpas, but I'm only actively working on Reah, my first tulpa currently.
