Drakaina March 4, 2016 March 4, 2016 That may work, but I'm inclined to say that because you already recognize the form, even with a silhouette your mind would fill in the cool details. It's like how you can see the silhouette of Pikachu (what's that pokemon, anyone?) and still know right away what pokemon it is. it doesn't take much for our brains to store away data. There's nothing wrong with wanting to give your tulpa a form. It's cool to have them fully design themselves, but some of us just aren't mentally coded to force to an amorphous mass, whatever it may be. :P "When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." -Arthur Conan Doyle

It sounds like you like this form, or at least the idea of it, but don't want to commit to it. However, there is that chance that the first form you give your tulpa will stick, so that's something you're going to have to make your peace with. This is not generic and featureless, like "balls of fire/light/smoke" are, so there is a good chance this would backfire if the intention is to use it as a placeholder. And that's okay. If you like the form, use it. If the two of you find one you like better down the road, you can work to change their form. But for now, it sounds like this is one you like and can see yourself using, so there's really no reason not to. ~ Member of SparrowNR's system ~ ~ I am a soulbond. LaceyJoshua March 5, 2016 March 5, 2016 Honestly I don't think if you used a shadowy form of that, it would necessarily stick. It would literally be a shadowy woman, with a sword (maybe). Whether or not it will stick is largely whether or not you keep thinking about the original form. A shadowy person is not at all a bad idea for a placeholder. :) You can call me Lacey! Tulpa Joshua, aged 24, born September 3. His first name is James; I call him both. Human, black hair, fairly pale skin, and often wears either formal attire or clothes that would do him well at a Goth club. Refuses to keep one eye color, but they're often gray, gold, or occasionally red. Serious, (very) patient, and usually polite.
